Spitfires sign free agent Kyler Morgan
Windsor, Ont. – The Windsor Spitfires are excited to announce the signing of undrafted free agent Kyler Morgan to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 2005 born forward from Kitchener, Ont. had a strong training camp and impressed the staff.
Morgan played for the Kitchener Jr. Rangers U18 team during the 2021-2022 season recording 13 points in 32 games played. During the 2022-2023 season Morgan continued with the Rangers U18AAA team and appeared in 35 games while recording 43 points (20-23-43). Morgan also appeared in four games for the K-W Siskins and recorded two goals and five assists.
The Kitchener native is excited to be joining the club.
“It’s pretty sweet”, said Morgan. “It is a great organization with great people. We are treated like we’re in the NHL. It’s a dream come true.”
Morgan made it to the annual Blue and White game and said training camp definitely helped him get to this point.
“I felt good in camp and performed well, it was a comfortable environment and I was able to play my own style”, said Morgan. “Going into camp as an undrafted free agent meant I had to prove myself and I was able to do that. I showed the staff what I could do.”
Bill Bowler spoke on Morgan putting pen to paper.
“We tracked Kyler at the end of last season and his play warranted a tryout this season”, said GM Bill Bowler. “During training camp and his first exhibition games he earned a contract with our team. We look forward to seeing him progress.”
