Spitfires Launch Charitable Foundation

(Windsor) – The Windsor Spitfires recently hosted the Inaugural Spitfire Foundation Golf Tournament at Beach Grove Golf and Country Club. The event was a huge success and all of the proceeds generated from the event will go to the Windsor Spitfire Foundation.

Windsor Spitfires President and Head Coach Bob Boughner offered his views on the successful day, “the support from the participating players and celebrities was overwhelming. This was a great day and I am very pleased that the event was able to raise funds which will be used to help various charities in our community.”

Many former OHL players were in attendance to support the charitable event including Brad Richardson, Wojtek Wolski, Cody McCormick, and Bob Probert. In addition, former Spitfire players Jason York, Steve Ott, Tim Gleason, and Brad Smith also participated in the event.

The Windsor Spitfires foundation is part of the vision of the team’s new ownership group of Bob Boughner, Warren Rychel and Peter Dobrich to give back to the Windsor/Essex community. The foundation will make monetary donations as well as providing autographed items and game tickets to many local registered charitable organizations. Events will be planned throughout the season in order to continually generate funds for the foundation.
