Shawn Costello commits to Generals
Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals are extremely excited to announce the commitment of fifth round selection Shawn Costello to the organization.
Costello, selected 87th overall at the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, is the fourth player from this draft class to commit. He joins 2007-born Owen Griffin, Isaac Gravelle, and Tristan Delisle.
The Brampton, Ont., native spent the 2022-2023 season with the Mississauga Senators. In 29 games, the 6-foot-3, 179lb. forward scored 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points.
At the 2022 Toronto Titans Early Bird tournament, the Senators and Costello were the last team standing. He helped his team win the tournament with one goal in the championship game. He also took part in the 2023 OHL Cup, appearing in four games with the Senators.
He also impressed GensNation during his first opportunity on Tribute Communities Centre ice. Across both days of scrimmages, Costello scored in both games – once driving to the net on a rush and another off a rebound.
“I’m super excited and honoured to be officially joining the Gens,” he said. “The job’s not finished.”
