OHL Mourns the Loss of Paul Emard
The Ontario Hockey League is deeply saddened by the loss of Paul Emard who passed away on December 24, 2013, at the age of 78.
Emard was among the great builders of the CHL in the position of both president and governor of the Cornwall Royals from 1969-83.
The Royals were members of the QMJHL from 1969-81 before joining the OHL from 1981-92.
During his reign, the Royals won three Memorial Cups, the first in 1972 and then back-to-back titles in 1980 and 1981.
Always passionate about communications, Emard owned and operated two radio stations in Cornwall since 1963.
He was inducted into the QMJHL Hall of Fame and Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
The OHL would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Paul Emard.
