OHL Mourns the Loss of Jason Baird
The Ontario Hockey League is deeply saddened by the loss of former Erie Otters forward Jason Baird who passed away in hospital Friday after complications from pancreatitis at the age of 33.
Baird, a native of Cayuga, ON, played four OHL seasons with the Otters from 1997-2001 competing in 245 regular season games.
Following his major junior career, Baird played one season in the East Coast Hockey League with the Cincinnati Cyclones before playing six seasons in the Central Hockey League between the Indianapolis Ice, the Corpus Christi Rayz, and the Youngstown Steelhounds ending in 2007-08.
Baird’s professional hockey career ended following an accident in July, 2008, in Ohio where he suffered severe burns after a lawn mower explosion while landscaping.
Our deepest sympathies to Baird’s friends and family that include wife Bethany, sons Isaiah and Marcus and daughter Addison.
