OHL’ers named to CHL All-Star Teams

Brendan Bell and Corey Locke of the Ottawa 67’s and Peterborough Petes forward Eric Staal were named to the Canadian Hockey League’s First All-Star Team during a media conference in Quebec City on Thursday.

Petes defenceman Lukas Krajicek and Matt Foy of the 67’s were named to the second team and Sarnia Sting goaltender Ryan Munce, Owen Sound Attack defenceman Mark Giordano and forward Rob Schremp of the Mississauga IceDogs were named to the All-Rookie Team.

Locke, the CHL Player of the Year, led all CHL scorers with 63 goals and 88 assists for 151 points in 66 games. He also won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player. Bell, who was named CHL Defenceman of the Year earlier this week, had 14 goals and 39 assists for 53 points in 55 games. Staal (pictured) is the top rated North American prospect for the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He led the Petes with 98 points (39 goals and 59 assists) in 66 games.
