OHL Cup Results – Day 2
Mississauga Ice Dogs 6, Brantford 99ers 4
Marco Franchini had a goal and an assist for the Mississauga Ice Dogs as they defeated the Brantford 99ers.
IceDogs captain Tyler Cuma also had a multi point game for Mississauga.
Josh Schram scored the game winner for the IceDogs on the power play in the second period.
Adam Henrique and Mark McGowan both had a goal and two assists for the 99ers.
Toronto Jr. Canadians 3, London Jr. Knights 2
Alex Pietrangelo scored the game winning goal on a penalty shot in the third period to lift the Toronto Jr. Canadians to a 3-2 victory over the London Jr. Knights. Pietramala also picked up two assists in the game
Derek Takeuchi and Chris Desousa also scored for the Jr. Canadians while Stefan Della Rovere added two assists in the victory.
Cody Lindsay and Michael Bray scored for the London Jr. Knights.
Toronto Marlboros 5, Vaughn Kings 4
The Toronto Marlboros rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Vaughn Kings 5-4 in overtime.
The game winning goal was scored by Stefan Salituro on a penalty shot called just as time expired in overtime.
Cory Trivino scored two goals and added an assist and Tyler Allen added a goal and two assists to lead the Marlboros.
Brandon Burlon scored the first two goals of the game for Vaughn.
Mark Cundari, Andrew Randazzo and Philip Varone all had multiple point games for the Kings.
Toronto Red Wings 4, Plymouth Compuware 0
Josh Dadic scored the two first goals of the game leading the Toronto Red Wings to their second win of the tournament as they defeated Plymouth Compuware 4-0.
Michael Colavecchia and Kain Allicock had multiple point games for the Toronto Red Wings while Rob Kidd registered the shutout.
Chris Dunham also scored for the Red Wings.
Great North All-Stars 5, Ottawa Valley Titans 2
Jeff Verreault scored two goals, including the game winner and added an assist to lead the Northern Ontario Hockey Association All-Stars to a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Valley Titans.
Michael Farrell countered with a goal in the first and second period for the Ottawa Valley Titans.
Zac McGillis scored a goal and an assist to contribute to the victory while Al Valiquette picked up the win in net for the Great North All-Stars.
Thunder Bay Kings 3, Ricmond Hill Stars 0
The Thunder Bay Kings scored one goal in the first and two more in the third to defeat the Richmond Hill Stars 3-0.
Kale Kerbashian scored one goal and added an assist to lead the way for Thunder Bay.
Ryan Faragher recorded the shutout in goal for Thunder Bay.
Mitchell Marostica and Justin Longley also scored for the Kings
Cumberland Barons 4, Toronto Marlboros 4
The final game of the first full day of the 2006 OHL showcase tournament ended in an exciting 4-4 tie after overtime did not determine a winner.
The Cumberland Barons overcame a 4-0 first period deficit to tie the game with 6:21 remaining in the third period on a goal by Jeff Campbell. It was Jeff’s second goal of the game.
Tyler Allen led the way for the Marlboros with one goal and one assist. Elijah Shaw, Alex Dye and Adam Scuglia added single goals for the visitors.
Partick Roger and Tim Billingsley also scored for Cumberland.
