Monday Highlights: McDavid hits milestone
Monday February 16, 2015
A busy Family Day across the OHL saw two of the league’s prominent offensive talents reach milestones. Erie Otters centreman Connor McDavid and London Knights winger Mitchell Marner steered their respective clubs to victory on Monday as a busy long weekend of hockey concluded.
McDavid’s Otters defeated the Mississauga Steelheads 4-0 as Daniel Dekoning made 24 saves for his second shutout of the season. McDavid’s 30th goal of the season came in fine style at 5:46 of the second period as the 18 year-old captain extended his current point streak to 19 games, the longest in Otters franchise history.
McDavid’s 19-game point streak surpasses the mark of 18 games that Tim Connolly set during the 1997-98 season.
Mason Marchment, Cory Genovese and Nick Baptiste also scored for Erie as the Otters wrapped up a successful weekend, one where they became the second Western Conference club to clinch a playoff spot. Watch
