Locke named OHL Player of the Week
The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Ottawa 67’s centre Corey Locke is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday April 13, 2003 after scoring nine goals and three assists for 12 points in four playoff games. Locke helped the 67’s to a 4-2 win over the Oshawa Generals in the Eastern Conferece Semi-Finals.
Locke opened the week with three goals and two assists in an 8-1 win over the Generals in Game 3 of the series on April 7. He added a goal in a 7-5 loss on April 9 and two goals in a 7-1 win on April 11. Locke helped the 67’s close out the series with three goals and an assist in a 6-0 win on April 13.
The 18-year-old Newmarket native lead all OHL scorers with 63 goals and 88 assists for 151 points in 66 regular season games and is the top scorer in the playoffs with 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 11 games.
The 67’s will face the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors in the OHL Eastern Conference finals beginning on Friday April 18 at the Ottawa Civic Centre.
