Internship Opportunity – Operations & Development Intern
The Ontario Hockey League is seeking applicants for the position of Operations & Development Intern as part of the Bill Hay Future Leaders Internship Program.
The Bill Hay Future Leaders Internship Program is geared toward university or college graduates pursuing a career in sports administration, program development, kinesiology, marketing, or communications.
Hay is well known for a successful hockey career both on the ice and as an administrator, having served as president and COO of Hockey Canada, and playing an instrumental role in the merger of Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey Association. In 2015, Hay was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in the Builder Category alongside his father, Charles, inducted in 1974.

POSITION: Operations & Development Intern
SUPERVISORS: Vice President & Vice President of Development
LOCATION: OHL Head Office, Toronto
STATUS: 8 Month Internship
START DATE: January 6th, 2020
Primary Responsibilities:
OHL Operations:
- Work with the Vice President on the management on the central registry of the League
- Work with the Vice President on the development of new League initiatives
OHL Development Programs:
- Work with the Manager of Development and Events on logistics, planning and execution of OHL Development programs and Special Events
OHL Alumni Association:
- Assist in the planning and execution of OHL Alumni Association’s annual golf tournament
- Assist with marketing and promotion of OHL Alumni Association golf tournament
General Administration:
- Assist the Director of Education Services with the management of the Central Scholarship Registry
Additional responsibilities assigned as required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Post Secondary education in Sports Management, Sports Administration, Marketing and Events or Business Management will be considered an asset
- Candidates with prior OHL/CHL background would be an asset.
- Well organized, able to handle several tasks at the same time
- Flexibility in working hours
- Able to work with limited direction
- Able to work without supervision
- Able to establish priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Clean Driving Record and valid Driver’s License
- Criminal Background check required
- Familiarity with sport administration
