Four prospects commit to Colts

Barrie, ON- Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that four players have committed to the team. Forwards Aidan Brown and Giordano Finoro, defenceman Matthew Brassard and goaltender Christian Propp have all signed Ontario Hockey League standard player agreements.
“Each of these players bring different attributes to the organization that they will develop as they gain experience with the Colts in the OHL,” said General Manager Jason Ford. “We are extremely excited about the 1998-99 age group.”
Brown, 15, was selected in the 3rd round (46th overall) in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection draft. The 6’0”, 170 pound forward spent last season with the York Simcoe Express Min. Midget AAA team recording 10 goals, 25 points and 99 PIMS in 31 games played. In his first pre-season OHL game Brown notched one goal in a 5-3 victory over the Guelph Storm this past Saturday night.
Finoro, 17, played the 2014-15 season with the Guelph Hurricanes of the GOJHL scoring 8 goals and 12 points, to lead his team in rookie scoring. The Colts selected the 5’11”, 172lbs forward in the 8th round (153rd overall) in 2014. The Guelph, Ontario native competed for Team OMHA White at the 2013-2014 OHL Gold Cup en route to winning the gold medal.
Brassard, 17, was drafted by the Colts in the 4th round (77th overall) in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection Draft. The local Barrie, Ontario native played last year with the Barrie Colts Midget AAA team, while appearing in five games with the OJHL Stouffville Spirit earning 1 assist. The 6’1”, 195lbs defenceman was also a member of Team OMHA White alongside fellow Colts prospect Giordano Finoro, earning the OHL Gold Cup Championship in 2014.
Lastly, Christian Propp, 16, is a 6 foot 2, 180 pound netminder from Milton, Ontario. At this past 2015 OHL draft the Colts selected the goalie in the 5th round (98th overall). Last season Propp appeared in 36 games for the Halton Hurricanes Min. Midget AAA team while posting a 2.55 GAA. In his first OHL pre-season action Saturday September 5th versus Guelph, Propp made 12 of 13 saves while earning the victory for the Colts.
“This group not only displays the skill and hockey attributes we look for; but their character and willingness to dedicate themselves and learn are key success factors moving forward,” said Ford.
