Boyes Named CHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player
GUELPH – The Canadian Hockey League announced this afternoon that Erie Otters’
captain Brad Boyes has been named the CHL Most Sportsmanlike Player.
Boyes, who captured his second straight William Hanley Trophy as the Ontario Hockey
League’s most sportsmanlike player, finished the 2001-02 OHL Regular Season with 36 goals
and 41 assists to go along with just 42 minutes in penalties in 47 games.
Jason Pominville of the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
and Ian White of the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League were the other
nominees for the award.
The award is Boyes’ second CHL honor. The 20 year-old Mississauga, Ontario native
captured the CHL Scholastic Player-of-the-Year Award in 1999-2000.
Boyes is also the OHL nominee for CHL Player-of-the-Year for a second straight season.
The award will be presented Thursday afternoon at the President’s Luncheon in Guelph.
