Beukeboom commits to Greyhounds
The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is extremely proud to announce that they have signed their 2008 first round draft choice (19th overall), defenceman Brock Beukeboom.
“I’m very pleased to finalize the contract with Brock,” said Greyhounds’ GM Dave Torrie. “We’ve been aware since before the draft that Brock would be excited to play in the OHL and for the Soo Greyhounds, but as with any first Round pick, getting all the issues covered in the contract takes co-operation from both sides.”
The second generation Greyhound comes to the team 26 years after his father Jeff stepped onto Memorial Gardens ice for the first time. A native of Uxbridge, ON, Brock will now be making the jump to Major Junior hockey from the Central Ontario Wolves program.
“With this (the contract) now completed, Brock can focus on getting himself ready for training camp and growing as a member of the Soo Greyhounds,” continued Torrie.
Brock will be enrolled in Bawating Collegiate and Vocational School where he will continue his high school education while in Sault Ste. Marie.
