This past June, the Budapest, HUN native was selected in the 5th Round of the NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres - becoming only the 5th Hungarian national drafted to the league.

The Seaway Shootout features the Brampton Steelheads against two Eastern Conference opponents at the Cornwall Civic Complex — the Ottawa 67's on Friday, Oct. 16 and the Kingston Frontenacs on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. Both games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. puck drop at the Ed Lumley Arena.

The weekend marks the return of regular season OHL hockey to Cornwall for the first time in decades, bringing major junior action back to a community with deep roots in the game. The historic Cornwall Civic Complex previously served as home to the Cornwall Royals, who captured three Memorial Cup titles during their major junior era and developed legends of the game including Dale Hawerchuk, Doug Gilmour and Marc Crawford.

Fans can also take in a slate of community events across the weekend, including a free public open skate on Friday afternoon.

Dennis, whose title remains unchanged, will once again oversee the club's day-to-day hockey operations following the departure of former General Manager John Winstanley, who recently joined the Barrie Colts as President of Hockey Operations. Winstanley spent six seasons with the Battalion organization, including four as Assistant General Manager before serving as General Manager over the past two seasons.

Goaltending coach Nate McDonald has been promoted to Assistant General Manager while continuing in his current coaching role, joining head coach Ryan Oulahen as an Assistant General Manager within the organization.

The Battalion have also welcomed back Ryan Ramsay as Director of Player Personnel. Ramsay returns to North Bay after spending last season as a skills and development coach with the Peterborough Petes. He previously served with the Battalion before taking over as owner and General Manager of the OJHL's Haliburton County Huskies.

Charles Abbott will continue as Director of Scouting, while Jeff Bateman remains Director of Player Evaluations and Prospect Development.

The club has also named Jonathan Turner as Equipment Manager following Andrew Latin's departure to the AHL's Ontario Reign. Turner joins North Bay after spending last season with the Kingston Frontenacs, following six seasons with the Barrie Colts.

"In saying that, I'm thrilled to be getting back out into the field with some great help surrounding me."

Winstanley arrives in Barrie following six seasons with the Battalion organization, where he joined as Assistant General Manager in 2020 before being promoted to General Manager ahead of the 2024-25 season. He also served as the club's Director of Player Development, helping oversee one of the OHL's most consistent organizations alongside Director of Hockey Operations Adam Dennis.

Prior to his time in North Bay, Winstanley spent a decade with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens program in the GTHL, serving as General Manager from 2013 to 2023 while also coaching at multiple age levels. Under his leadership, the Jr. Canadiens captured numerous league and provincial championships, including an OHL Cup title in 2018, establishing the organization as one of Ontario's premier development programs.

Before moving into management, Winstanley played two seasons in the OHL with the Sudbury Wolves from 2001 to 2003 after beginning his junior career with the Brampton Capitals. He recorded 37 points in 62 games with Sudbury before transitioning into coaching and hockey operations.

From my conversations with ownership and the leadership group, it was clear that we share the same vision for what this organization can become."

Winstanley added that his philosophy centres around developing both players and people.

My commitment is to build an environment where our players are challenged every day to become the best hockey players and the best young adults they can be."

The appointment marks a return to a larger leadership role in the OHL for Winstanley, who helped guide North Bay to consecutive Eastern Conference championships as Assistant General Manager before taking over as the Battalion's General Manager for the past two seasons. He now joins a Barrie organization looking to build on its recent success after reaching the 2026 OHL Championship Series.
