Wednesday Highlights: Outshot but not outdone
OWEN SOUND 5 – HAMILTON 2
The Owen Sound Attack were outshot 31-20, but prevailed in front of 8,396 students at FirstOntario Centre, defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-2 in their annual School Day Game. Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael McNiven made 29 saves while blueliners Markus Phillips (10) and Santino Centorame (4) each had a goal and an assist. Nick Suzuki (26), Petrus Palmu (30) and Cordell James (20) also scored for the Bears who improve to 34-14-1-1. The Attack went 2-for-2 on the power play to win for the eighth time in the last 10 games. Hamilton goals came from Michael Cramarossa (15) and Niki Petti (13) as the Bulldogs suffered their third straight loss.

LONDON 4 – FLINT 3 – SO
Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Mitchell Stephens (19) tied the game with four minutes left in the third period before winning the game in a shootout as the London Knights completed a 4-3 comeback victory in Flint. Netminder Tyler Johnson turned in a 43-save effort while Carolina Hurricanes prospect Janne Kuokkanen (20) had a goal and an assist. Adrian Carbonara (10) also scored for London as the Knights draw back even with first place Erie in the Midwest Division. Firebirds rookie Ty Dellandrea (7, 8) scored twice in the loss while Ryan Moore (29) also found the back of the net. Garrett Forrest made 37 saves for Flint as the Firebirds earned a point to climb five points ahead of ninth place Saginaw in the Western Conference with a pair of games in hand. The Knights managed to hold the Firebirds to 0-for-8 on the man advantage, improving to 35-9-3-4.

PETERBOROUGH 3 – OTTAWA 1
Carolina Hurricanes prospect Steven Lorentz (19) scored the game winner with 5:10 remaining in the third period as the Peterborough Petes claimed a 3-1 win in Ottawa. Goaltender Scott Smith earned first star honours with 26 saves as the Petes won despite being outshot 26-17. Cole Fraser (4) and Josh Coyle (7) also had markers for Peterborough as the Petes draw back even with the Oshawa Generals atop the East Division. Jared Steege’s (13) first period goal was also his 100th OHL point as the 67’s remain three points back of sixth place Sudbury in the Eastern Conference.

SAULT STE. MARIE 3 – SAGINAW 1
Anaheim Ducks prospect Jack Kopacka (20, 21) had a pair of goals to lead the Soo Greyhounds to a 3-1 home ice win over the Saginaw Spirit. Rookie netminder Matthew Villalta made 30 saves, improving to 4-0 against Saginaw on the season while Boston Bruins prospect Zach Senyshyn (31) also scored for the Greyhounds. Max Grondin (4) scored the lone goal for the Spirit as Saginaw lost despite outshooting the Hounds 31-24. Sault Ste. Marie improves to 36-13-2-1, four points ahead of second place Windsor atop the West Division.
