Vaughan Kings win 2025 U14 OHL Cup presented by Dairy Farmers of Ontario
The Vaughan Kings were crowned champions of the 2025 Under-14 OHL Cup presented by Dairy Farmers of Ontario and hosted by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association held at the INVISTA Centre in Kingston, Ont. over the weekend.
Vaughan defeated the Toronto Marlboros 7-2 in Saturday’s Championship Final, climbing ahead 3-1 in the opening frame before putting things out of reach with four second period tallies.
“It was our goal all season,” said Vaughan head coach Chris Stevenson. “We had a hiccup in the Silver Stick but otherwise we’ve had success with all of our other objectives this year and it’s the perfect way to end things. It’s like the Stanley Cup for U14. It sets the stage for future years and I’m proud of these guys.”
Stevenson coached the 2022 Mississauga Senators U16 AAA program to a U16 OHL Cup title. That group included such names as Michael Misa (Saginaw Spirit), Malcolm Spence (Erie Otters), Gabriel Frasca (Erie Otters), Bode Stewart (Barrie Colts) and Riley Patterson (Barrie Colts).
“That U16 year with the Senators. That team was kind of my baby,” Stevenson added. “I saw those boys grow up before my eyes and restarting with this team I didn’t know how it could go but it’s been an incredible years to see them get better and improve. I’m looking forward to two more years with them.”
Vaughan played to a 3-0 mark in round robin play before defeating the Toronto Nationals 5-1 in the quarters and the Sudbury Wolves 4-3 in the semis.
The Kings played to a first place record of 30-1-2 during the regular season, winning a GTHL title as they eliminated the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the Championship Final.
