Tuesday Highlights: Firebirds find a way

– The Firebirds led 4-0 in the early stages of the second period before Guelph battled back to tie, with Michael Buchinger sending the game to OT with his first career OHL goal.
– In his 150th career OHL game, Riley Piercey scored with 26 seconds left in the extra frame to give Flint the win.
– New York Rangers prospect Brennan Othmann scored his 26th goal of the season, the second-most in the League this season.
– Anaheim Ducks prospect Sasha Pastujov had a goal and two helpers for the Storm.
– Guelph outshot Flint 48-29 as Luke Cavallin made 44 saves in the victory.
– The Firebirds climb into one point of third place London and Guelph in the Western Conference, improving to 18-13-0-2. Flint’s 11 road wins are the second-most in the OHL.
– Guelph sees a four-game winning streak snapped, earning a point to sit at 18-8-2-1 in a tie for the Midwest Division lead.

OSHAWA 4, KINGSTON 2
– Edmonton Oilers prospect Ty Tullio had two goals, one assist and nine shots on goal to lead the Generals to victory.
– Ryan Gagnier scored and added an assist for Oshawa.
– Shane Wright scored his 12th goal of the season for Kingston.
– Patrick Leaver made 39 saves as the Generals won despite being outshot 41-30.
– The Generals earn their seventh win in the last 10 games, improving to 16-12-1-2 for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
– Kingston has lost four in a row, falling to 17-9-3-0, two points up on Oshawa for a fourth place tie in the Eastern Conference.
– Ryan O’Dell made his OHL debut for Oshawa.

– Rookie defenceman Beau Akey scored his first OHL goal before Nathan Allensen scored the go-ahead 1:06 into the second period.
– Declan McDonnell and Ethan Cardwell each picked up two assists in the win.
– Mack Guzda made 31 saves for the win in his 150th career regular season contest.
– Barrie outshot Sudbury 35-32,
– The Colts improve to 17-8-3-0 with wins in eight of their last 10 games. They’re now tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference.
– Sudbury holds down eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 10-19-3-1 record.
