Thursday Highlights: Zayne Parekh joins elite 100-point club
Barrie Colts 4 at Saginaw Spirit 7
- Kaeden Johnston’s first of the night stood as the game-winner, and he tucked away the insurance marker as well shortly after.
- With his goal Thursday, Flames prospect Zayne Parekh becomes just the ninth defenceman in OHL history to hit the 100-point mark in a season—and the first to do it in 14 years since Ryan Ellis in 2011. Others in addition to Parekh and Ellis to accomplish the feat include Bryan Fogarty, Jamie Rivers, Scott MacLellan, Bruce Cassidy, Shawn Evans, Chris Felix and Rik Wilson.
- The Colts took a early lead with goals by Cole Beaudoin and Anthony Romani, but Kristian Epperson’s back-to-back goals late in the first period stole the lead for the Spirit.
- The Colts tried to get back in it, with Cole Beaudoin and Anthony Romani each scoring their second of the night, but they couldn’t overcome the hefty spirit lead.
