Thursday Highlights: Spits stop Attack in overtime
WINDSOR 2, OWEN SOUND 1 – OT
– Will Cuylle’s second of the night came on the power play 36 seconds into overtime as the Spits ended Owen Sound’s six-game winning streak.
– Wyatt Johnston picked up primary assists on both Cuylle’s goals, giving him a league-leading 92 points on the season.
– Nicholas Porco’s 19th of the season tied the score with 6:49 remaining in the third period to force OT.
– Windsor outshot Owen Sound 32-19, going 1-for-4 on the power play.
– Matt Onuska stopped 18 of 19 for the win opposite Owen Sound’s Nick Chenard, who made 30 saves to help the Bears earn a point.
– Windsor climbs to 30-14-3-3 with points in five straight, holding down third in the Western Conference. The Spits have won nine straight games at home dating back to Feb. 10th.
– Owen Sound is on a seven-game point streak, sitting 25-23-3-2 for sixth place in the Western Conference.
– The two clubs meet again on Mar. 16th in Owen Sound.

HAMILTON 3, BARRIE 2
– Logan Morrison and Artem Grushnikov scored third period goals 24 seconds apart to give the Hamilton Bulldogs 10 consecutive wins, defeating Barrie 3-2.
– Avery Hayes scored his 32nd goal of the season for the Bulldogs while defenceman Gavin White picked up a pair of assists.
– Nathan Allensen and Declan McDonnell were Barrie goal-scorers.
– Hamilton outshot Barrie 29-20, going 1-for-3 on the power play while holding to Barrie without a man advantage on the night.
– Marco Costantini made 18 saves for the win while Barrie’s Mack Guzda turned aside 26 shots.
– The Bulldogs, who are the first OHL team to clinch a playoff spot, improve to 35-11-2-2 atop the League standings.
– Barrie falls to 26-19-4-0, good for fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
– Barrie’s Ethan Cardwell returned to the lineup after serving a 15-game suspension.
– Anaheim Ducks prospect Mason McTavish was out of the Hamilton lineup with an injury, though Ryan Winterton did return after missing last Friday’s action.

– The Frontenacs held on to defeat the Petes 5-4 on the road, managing to take two points despite being outshot 38-27.
– Rookie blueliner Thomas Budnick scored the game winner 4:11 into the third period.
– LA Kings prospect Martin Chromiak scored his 24th and 25th goals of the season while Lucas Edmonds had a goal and two assists.
– Top 2022 NHL Draft prospect Shane Wright picked up three assists on the night.
– Tucker Robertson scored his 31st and 32nd goals of the season, netting his fifth shorthanded marker in the process.
– Kingston’s second-ranked power play went 3-for-6 while Peterborough was held to 0-for-3.
– Ottawa Senators prospect Leevi Merilainen made 34 saves for the win opposite Peterborough’s Michael Simpson, who took the loss with 22 saves.
– Kingston is now 31-17-3-0 for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
– The Petes see their five-game winning streak snapped, falling to 21-27-3-0 for eighth place in the Eastern Conference, two points up on Sudbury with three games in hand.
