Barrie Colts 4 vs. North Bay Battalion 3 – SO
- Trailing 3-2, newly-minted Colts captain Connor Punnett scored on a one-timer with 28 seconds left to force OT
- After setting-up two goals in regulation, Seattle Kraken prospect Eduard Sale scored the shootout winner in his OHL debut
- Ben West was the game’s first star, stopping 36-of-39 for Barrie
- Beau Jelsma finished the night with a goal and an assist
- North Bay’s Anthony Romani scored the first goal of the 2023-24 OHL season, striking 6:42 into the first period
- Battalion newcomer Iggy Pazii scored his first career marker with 4:10 remaining in the third period
- Charlie Robertson made the start for North Bay in place of Dom DiVincentiis, who assumed backup duties after recently returning from Winnipeg Jets training camp
- A crowd of 3,342 was on-hand for the Colts home opener
