LUKE MONCADA (NORTH BAY BATTALION) – 3G
Luke Moncada completed his third hat-trick of the season to launch his North Bay Battalion to a 6-2 defeat of the first place Ottawa 67’s for their third straight win. The 19-year-old of Markham, Ont. scored his 30th goal of the season early in the first period before a successful shorthanded penalty shot landed him his league-leading seventh shorthanded marker. He’d find the empty net to complete the trio in the game’s remaining minutes. The Battalion captain boasts a career high 55 points over 55 games in his fourth OHL season. He was a third round pick of the Guelph Storm in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection and was traded to the Troops in the summer of 2017. Following his teammate Brad Chenier’s trade to the Sudbury Wolves last month, Moncada was awarded the captaincy.
