Talk Today: OHL alumnus Danny Zhilkin and his vision for mental health
The Canadian Mental Health Association had the opportunity to catch up with OHL alumnus Danny Zhilkin on their latest episode of the Talk Today Podcast, discussing mental health, and resources in the hockey community.
Known for his time with the Kitchener Rangers and Guelph Storm, the Winnipeg Jets prospect is also recognized for his work off the ice, particularly in mental health advocacy.
Zhilkin participated in the Talk Today program during his time in the OHL and founded “Zhilkin’s Vision,” a non-profit aimed at addressing mental health in sports.
Zhilkin’s Vision’s goal is to raise awareness about mental health within the sports community by de-stigmatizing conversations about mental health and promoting the prioritization and accessibility of mental health resources for athletes of all ages and levels of sport.
In the latest episode of the Talk Today Podcast, the former first round pick delves into the reasons behind his initiative, his own mental health practices, and his preparation for a career in professional hockey.
Hosted by Talk Today program staff Alex Salomie and Justin Dickie, the Talk Today podcast aims to spread mental health awareness in sports through conversations with athletes and others in the sports community who are passionate about mental health.
