Storm’s Ryan McGuire commits to St. Francis Xavier University

Guelph Storm’s overage forward Ryan McGuire has announced his commitment to St. Francis Xavier for the 2025-26 U Sports hockey season. 

A native of Burlington, ON., McGuire was selected 56th overall in the third round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. The 5-foot-11 center spent his entire four-year OHL career with the Storm, appearing in 202 regular-season games and recording 59 points (28-31-59). 

St. Francis Xavier University, located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, is home to the StFX X-Men – a respected U Sports program that competes in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference. The X-Men made headlines in 2023 when they snapped the University of New Brunswick Reds’ historic 57-game winning streak.

McGuire will join twelve OHL alumni on the X-Men roster for the 2025-26 campaign.
