Sting sign defenceman Matthew Andersen
Sarnia, ON – Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca announced today that the Hockey Club has signed left-shot defenceman Matthew Andersen to an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Andersen was drafted by the Sting in the ninth round, 177th pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. The 5’11”, 165-pound Newmarket, ON native has spent the 2022-2023 season with the Sarnia Legionnaires of the GOJHL. Anderson has 5 goals and 15 assists in 35 games this season.
On the signing of Andersen, Seca comments:
“Matthew is a player our scouts raved about last season. His physical game and level of competitiveness he plays with each game is very hard to find. He has progressed very well with the Legionnaires; his development is also a testament to their staff. For the upcoming season and beyond. We welcome Matthew and the Andersen family to StingNation!”
