Sting name leadership group, with Fischer appointed captain
The Sarnia Sting announced their leadership group ahead of the 2024-25 season, with St. Louis Blues prospect Lukas Fischer being appointed captain.
Joining Fischer as assistants are veteran forwards Easton Wainwright and Zach Filak, second-year attacker Ryan Brown and sophomore blueliner Hughston Hurt.
A 6-foot-3, 184Ib. left-shot defender from Brighton, Mich., Fischer enters his third season with the Sting after producing 34 points (6-28–34) in 68 games as a sophomore. The St. Louis Blues took Fischer in the second round (56th overall) this past summer.
The Sting got off to a winning start, defeating the Windsor Spitfires 5-4 in overtime in their home opener before falling 6-1 to the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday. They return home to face Saginaw this coming Friday, October 4th.
