Steelheads acquire blueliner Reed Gee
The Mississauga Steelheads added to their blueline prior to the holiday break, acquiring 17-year-old defenceman Reed Gee from the Flint Firebirds on Sunday, completing the deal prior to the league’s holiday trade freeze taking effect.
Gee made his debut with the Steelheads in Sunday’s 3-1 home win over the Ottawa 67’s. He was acquired along with Guelph’s 13th round pick in 2024 in exchange for Mississauga’s third round pick in 2027, eighth round pick in 2026 and 11th round pick in 2026.
Originally Flint’s third round pick in 2022 from the Quinte Red Devils U16 program, Gee recorded two points (1-2–2) over 20 games as a rookie in 2022-23. He’d put up five assists over 16 games with Flint this season.
The 6-foot, 178Ib. Kingston, Ont. native joins the Steelheads, who will be without Czech defender Jakub Fibigr to injury in the coming weeks. Gee is wearing #8 with the Steelheads.
