Spitfires relieve Head Coach Jerrod Smith
The Windsor Spitfires announced Monday evening that the club has relieved Head Coach Jerrod Smith of his duties, effective immediately.
Smith had been with the Spitfires organization since 2011, previously serving as both Video Coach and Assistant/Associate Coach before being promoted to Head Coach this past summer. The 39-year-old is also an OHL alumnus, playing one season with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors in 2001-02.
“Jerrod has been a committed coach and advocate for the Spitfires for many years,” said a team statement on Monday. “His support and dedication have been exemplary. We thank Jerrod for his effort and commitment and wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
Entering the season as back-to-back West Division champions, the Spitfires own a record of 4-16-1-0 through their first 21 games, and enter the week having lost their last eight contests.
