Spirit’s Parekh added to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp
Saginaw Spirit defenceman Zayne Parekh has been added to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp.
In 23 games this year, Parekh has 30 points to sit fourth in scoring among OHL blueliners.
A year ago, the 18-year-old was named the CHL and OHL defenceman of the year after a 96-point campaign. He then helped the Spirit to a Memorial Cup title on home ice after he played at a point-per-game pace in five contests.
The Calgary Flames selected Parekh with the ninth overall pick of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Parekh will replace injured Kamloops Blazers defenceman Harrison Brunicke at Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp that will take place Dec. 10-13 in Ottawa.
