Spirit’s Misa sets new franchise record as all-time leading scorer
The Ontario Hockey League’s leading scorer and top 2025 NHL Draft prospect, Michael Misa, made history on Friday, February 28th in Sudbury, becoming the Saginaw Spirit’s all-time points leader.
Misa entered the night just one point shy of Ryan McDonough’s franchise record and wasted no time etching his name in the history books. With two goals and an assist in Saginaw’s 7-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves, Misa reached 249 career points, surpassing McDonough’s mark and cementing himself as the most prolific scorer in team history. The victory also secured Saginaw’s 16th postseason appearance.

Now in his third OHL season, Misa has 251 points in 169 games, the most in team history. He also holds the Spirit’s single-season records for points and goals, with 120 points and 57 goals in 57 games this season.
A generational talent, Misa was the sixth player ever granted exceptional status in the OHL, allowing him to enter the league as a 15-year-old in 2022. Selected first overall by Saginaw in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection from the Mississauga Senators U16 AAA program, he has recorded 108 goals and 143 assists in 169 games. He also played a key role in Saginaw’s 2024 Memorial Cup championship, further securing his place in all-time franchise history.
