Petes’ Ryder McIntyre commits to Acadia University

Peterborough Petes forward Ryder McIntyre has announced his commitment to Acadia University for the 2025-26 U Sports hockey season. 

A native of Stouffville, Ont., Ryder McIntyre was selected 51st overall in the third round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-4 winger played 211 regular-season games, beginning his career with the Sarnia Sting before moving on to the Oshawa Generals and Peterborough Petes. Over four seasons, he recorded 31 goals and 38 assists, while also appearing in 11 playoff games. In 2022-23 he received the Roger Nelson Memorial Award as the OHL’s Top Academic Post-Secondary Student. 

“I am very excited to commit to Acadia and play for such a great program,” said McIntyre. “It’s felt like the perfect fit from the beginning – from the schooling, community, coaching staff, and players, the program is nothing short of first-class.”

Located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Acadia University is home to the Acadia Axemen, a U Sports men’s hockey team that competes in the AUS (Atlantic University Sport) conference. They have captured two U Sport national titles in 1993 and 1996. 

McIntyre will join seven OHL alumni on the Axemen roster for the 2025-26 campaign.
