Petes name Donovan McCoy 62nd captain in franchise history
The Peterborough Petes announced ahead of their season-opener on Thursday that Donovan McCoy has been named the 62nd Captain in the franchise’s history.
Drafted in the first round, 15th overall in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, McCoy, 18, enters his third season with the Petes. During the 2022-20223 season, the Belleville, Ont. native appeared in 65 games with Peterborough, scoring two goals and adding 11 assists, for 13 points. The 6-foot, 198lb. blueliner made an additional 22 post-season appearances, recording two goals, eight assists and 10 points as the Petes hoisted the J.Ross Robertson Cup as OHL Champions.
His League-winning season earned him an invite to the Calgary Flames development camp, returning to Peterborough on September 26.
