Petes acquire Ryder McIntyre
The Peterborough Petes added some size to their forward ranks on Friday afternoon, acquiring 6-foot-3, 218Ib. winger Ryder McIntyre from the Oshawa Generals in exchange for a sixth round pick in 2027.
The 19-year-old McIntyre has produced four points (2-2–4) in 12 games with the Generals this season. He’s compiled 30 points (13-17–30) over 133 regular season games between Oshawa and Sarnia over three campaigns. He served as an alternate captain with the Generals this season and recently returned from a lower body injury that caused him to miss 10 games.
“We’re very excited to add Ryder to our lineup,” noted Petes GM Mike Oke. “Ryder is a veteran forward who’s leadership and experience is going to be very beneficial for us. We look forward to having him join up with the team and can’t wait to see him on the ice.”
A native of Stouffville, Ont., McIntyre was last year’s recipient of the Roger Neilson Memorial Award presented annually to the league’s top post-secondary school student. He was originally Sarnia’s third round (51st overall) pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.
The Petes return to action on Saturday at home to the North Bay Battalion.
