Petes 50/50 draws raise $271,843 in support of Peterborough Minor Hockey Council
The Peterborough Petes have announced that a final total of $271,843 has been raised through their 2022-23 50/50 draws. All funds raised are in support of the Peterborough Minor Hockey Council (PMHC).
Through the regular season, the Petes 50/50 draws raised $123,715. During the playoffs, over $142,818 was raised, including a record breaking prize jackpot of $31,605 in game six of the OHL Championship Series. Another $5,310 was also raised through the online Memorial Cup draw.
The funds raised are all in support of the Peterborough Minor Hockey Council, keeping the money in local minor hockey. Petes Security, Risk Management, & Billet Liaison Walter DiClemente, a former president of the PMHC, was instrumental in bringing the local organization into the 50/50 draws this season.
“The PMHC are very grateful for the opportunity to run the 50/50 this past season.” Noted DiClemente. “The proceeds are much needed to keep the cost of minor hockey affordable for our families.”
DiClemente stated that the proceeds will be used for things such as ice rentals, funding for players in need of financial support, and player development technology and equipment to further educate their coaches. He also noted that the PMHC has and will continue to share/donate proceeds with other community groups such as Kawartha Food Share and the Petes Pink in the Rink Campaign.
The PMHC demonstrated this during the Petes championship playoff run this season by providing funds for the “Selfie Cam,” an app that allowed fans to connect to the videoboard from their phone, which was extremely well received by Petes fans at the PMC.
Petes Office Administrator Ian MacGregor ran the 50/50 draws this season, supported by sellers Linda, Gary, Cathy, Sarah, Amanda, James, Erin, Jordan, Seamus, Jori, Theresa, Danielle, Chris, and Shawn. MacGregor credits the record breaking 50/50 year to the sellers, fans, and the atmosphere at the PMC this season.
“It’s been an amazing year for Petes 50/50 draws.” exclaimed MacGregor. “Everyone played a big role in hitting these numbers. The buzz in the arena all season made it a great place to sell tickets.”
