Bulldogs prevail in Outdoor Showcase
Topping off their perfect week, George Diaco scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season as the Hamilton Bulldogs won the fourth outdoor game in OHL history, blanking Oshawa before a crowd of 12,587 at Tim Hortons Field on Monday night. Logan Morrison scored in a sixth straight game, extending his point streak to 11 with a second period goal. Hamilton has won 19 of their last 20 games, improving to 37-11-2-2 for the league’s first place spot.

Kingston clinches a playoff spot
Lucas Edmonds scored his 30th of the season on Sunday, coming within one point of the OHL scoring lead as the Frontenacs clinched a playoff spot after defeating Niagara 5-2. The OHL Player of the Week totalled nine points in three games, scoring three goals and six assists. The Fronts sit one point back of third place Mississauga in the Eastern Conference with a 33-17-3-0 record. Kingston enters another week currently short on the back end, without big bodies Braden Haché and Ben Roger in the lineup due to injuries.

The Battalion go back-to-back
The North Bay Battalion defeated the Wolves in back-to-back weekend games. Kyle McDonald and Anthony Romani both scored twice while Mitchell Russell and Owen Van Steensel each finished with a goal and two helpers on Friday as the Battalion clinched a playoff spot. Captain Liam Arnsby made his return to the lineup after missing time since Jan. 16th with an injury. The Battalion hung up a seven spot in Sudbury for a second straight game on Sunday, spreading the scoring around as seven different players scored goals. McDonald rides a 13-game point streak into another week as North Bay sits first in the Central Division.

Windsor wins in overtime
Dallas Stars prospect Wyatt Johnston found Spits captain Will Cuylle for his third OT winner of the campaign, helping Windsor take a weekend split in Erie on Saturday. The win is Windsor’s league-leading sixth OT triumph. Johnston increased his league-leading point total to 96 with a goal and two assists while Cuylle had a goal and an assist, scoring his second OT winner on an assist from Johnston this week. The Spitfires sit fourth with a 31-15-3-3 record.

Cavallin, Othmann tie Firebirds single-season records
A 49-save performance from Luke Cavallin on Saturday helped the Flint Firebirds win despite being outshot 52-23 by the Guelph Storm, nailing down their third straight victory. Cavallin’s 29th win of the season equals Anthony Popovich’s franchise high single-season watermark set in 2019-20. Cavallin was rewarded the game’s first star while Brennan Othmann scored his 39th goal of the campaign, equalling Ryan Moore’s 2016-17 single season franchise mark. Flint stays atop the Western Conference at 35-16-1-3. Cavallin will sit for the next two games after being assessed a two-game suspension for events transpiring at the end of Saturday’s game against Guelph.

Kartye, Calisti lead Greyhounds
The Soo Greyhounds defeated Kitchener 7-4 on Saturday as Seattle Kraken prospect Tye Kartye scored twice on the power play, giving him 36 goals on the season to lead the Soo Greyhounds to a second straight home win over Kitchener. Kartye’s 19 power play goals are the most by a Hounds player since Brett Thompson (21) in 2009-10. Fresh off signing a two-year AHL deal with the Florida Panthers organization, overage defenceman Robert Calisti also had a big week, racking up five points (2-3–5) in three games. His 19 goals lead all OHL defenders. The Greyhounds have won three in a row, improving to 31-17-6-1.

Cardwell key for Colts in return to lineup
San Jose Sharks prospect Ethan Cardwell led the way with a goal and two assists in a 6-3 win over Niagara on Friday before scoring another goal and three assists on Saturday. Cardwell, who comes off serving a 15-game suspension, suited up on Thursday for the first time since Jan. 29th. Declan McDonnell scored in a fourth straight contest, hitting the 20-goal milestone while guiding the Colts to their second victory of the week. Barrie improves to 28-19-4-0 for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Just as Cardwell has returned to the lineup, the Colts will lose captain Brandt Clarke in the coming weeks after he received an eight-game suspension for events stemming from a game on Mar. 10th against Hamilton.

Barlow sets rookie record
Colby Barlow scored twice in a 7-6 shootout loss against Saginaw on Friday, setting a new Attack record for 16-year-old rookies with 24 goals in a single-season. He surpassed prior marks of 22 set by Bobby Ryan (2003-04) and Daniel Sisca (1999-2000). Owen Sound bounced back to split the weekend as Nick Chenard earned Goaltender of the Week honours making 30 saves for the win on Saturday.

Storm battle back to beat Otters down two key defenders
Missing blueliners Ashton Reesor and Daniil Chayka with injuries on Monday, the Guelph Storm scrambled back with three unanswered goals to defeat the Erie Otters 4-3. Captain Brayden Guy came up with a pair of goals, giving him 19 on the season. Guelph remains two points up on sixth place Owen Sound who have come on of late. They’re seven points back of Windsor for home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Rookie defenders Michael Buchinger and Cam Allen remain go-to’s in Guelph, both recording two points in Monday’s win.

Evangelista keeps the goals coming
Luke Evangelista and Antonio Stranges both put up two goals and two assists as the Knights prevailed in a high-scoring affair against visiting Saginaw on Monday night. Evangelista now has a league-leading 47 goals in 49 games. Owen Willmore made 23 saves for his second straight win in his second OHL start as the Knights improve to 34-17-2-0, four points back of first place Flint in the Western Conference.
