Throughout the season, the OHL Power Rankings will usher in a new week of action each Monday, with the top 16 teams in the Ontario Hockey League jostling for position headed into the 2024 OHL Playoffs. Read more

North Bay Battalion forward Anthony Romani is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, scoring five goals while adding an assist while registering a plus-7 rating in a pair of games. Read more
Storm’s Gillespie named OHL Goaltender of the Week:
Brayden Gillespie of the Guelph Storm is the OHL Goaltender of the Week following a pair of wins where he posted a 1.50 goals-against average and .929 save percentage. Read more
Knights’ Edward signs with Bruins:
The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Jackson Edward to a three-year entry-level contract. The Newmarket, Ont. native was originally selected by Boston in the seventh round (200th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Read more
17 OHL players to represent Canada at 2023 World U17 Hockey Challenge:
Hockey Canada announced that 17 OHL players have been named to rosters for the upcoming 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge set to take place from November 2-11 in Charlottetown and Summerside, PE. Read more

67’s ink Boyd, Cameron to multi-year extensions:
The Ottawa 67’s announced that General Manager James Boyd, and Head Coach Dave Cameron have signed multi-year extensions with the team. The extensions ensure the continuity of an experienced hockey operations group at the helm of the 67’s, one that also includes Associate General Manager and Director of Scouting, Jan Egert. Read more
Frontenacs hire Troy Mann as Head Coach:
The Kingston Frontenacs have named Troy Mann as the new head coach of the Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club. Mann, 54, brings professional coaching experience to the Frontenacs as he has served as a head coach in the American Hockey League as well as the ECHL. Mann replaces Luca Caputi behind the Kingston bench after he was relieved of his duties last week. Assistant coach John McFarland has also stepped down from his position. Read more
Filip Mesar returns to Rangers:
The Montreal Canadiens announced Saturday that they’ve reassigned Filip Mesar from the AHL’s Laval Rocket to the Kitchener Rangers. The 19-year-old from Spisska Bela, Slovakia recorded 51 points (17-34–51) in 52 games with Kitchener last season. Read more
Christopoulos returns to Windsor lineup:
The 2-7 Windsor Spitfires will get a much-needed boost offensively as overage winger Alex Christopoulos is set to make his season debut on Thursday night when the Spits host the Ottawa 67’s. Christopoulos has missed the opening nine games of the season recovering from offseason wrist surgery. The right-winger scored 49 goals, 25 assists and 74 points in 68 games for Windsor last season, helping the Spits win a second straight West Division title.
‘Workhorse’ Beaudoin primed for breakout season in Barrie:
At 6-foot-2, 206Ibs., 2024 NHL Draft prospect Cole Beaudoin already brings size and strength to the Barrie Colts lineup, and has put it on display in the early going this season. Read more
COMMUNITY CORNER:
Spirit raise more than $11,000 in annual Pink out Rink:
The Saginaw Spirit raised more than $11,000 Sunday during their 16th annual Pink Out game. The money raised will benefit the Ascension’s Breast Care Fund as well as the Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation. Post-game, the team’s specialty pink jerseys were auctioned off live at the Dow Event Center. Read more

Spooky season has arrived! Join the Knights, Spirit, IceDogs, Rangers, Otters, Spitfires, Colts, Firebirds, and Storm as they celebrate Halloween this weekend. Busy weekend in North Bay:
The Battalion play host to the Guelph Storm on Thursday for Cascades Casino North Bay Night, with plenty of prizes up for grabs for fans in attendance. Sunday brings the Sudbury Wolves to the Gardens for the Battalion’s third annual Indigenous Youth Day. The game is already sold out!
Frontenacs to host Hockey Fights Cancer night on Friday:
The Kingston Frontenacs are set to host their Hockey Fights Cancer night on Friday in support of the cancer Society. The Frontenacs will be celebrating survivors, fans in the fight, and affected families. The Frontenacs will also be wearing special jerseys during the game. These jerseys will be put up for auction online following the game with all proceeds being donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Wolves to host Rock night on Friday:
The Sudbury Wolves are set to host their Rock night on Friday! Fans are encouraged to dress up in costume as their favourite Rockstar. Friday’s game is sponsored by 92.7 ROCK who will be onsite collecting nonperishable and canned food items at the game. Everyone who donates towards the food drive will be entered into a draw to win great prizes. Read more
Attack to host Hockey Fights Cancer night on Saturday:
The Owen Sound Attack are set to host their Hockey Fights Cancer night on Saturday. The Attack will be auctioning off specialty Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys, will all proceeds from the auction go to local Cancer initiatives. Read more
ALUMNI NOTES:
Otters graduate DeBrincat named NHL first star of the week:
Former Erie Otters top scorer Alex DeBrincat has been named the NHL’s first star of the week, bursting onto the scene with his hometown team, the Detroit Red Wings. DeBrincat, from Farmington Hills, Mich., helped Detroit get off to a 4-0 start, recording five goals, three assists and eight points. He also became the fifth Michigan-born player to score a hat trick as a member of the Red Wings. DeBrincat, 25, played three seasons in Erie from 2014-17, scoring at least 50 goals in each season before helping the Otters win an OHL championship in 2017.
Craig Anderson retires as member of Senators:
Guelph Storm alumnus Craig Anderson’s professional hockey career came to an end on Tuesday, as the 42-year-old Illinois-born netminder signed a one-day contract with the Senators to retire as a member of the team. Holding the most wins of any Ottawa Senators goaltender, Anderson spent 21 seasons in the National Hockey League, including 10 with the Senators, and appeared in 709 NHL games throughout his playing career. Selected in the 10th round by Guelph in the 1998 OHL Priority Selection, Anderson spent three seasons in the OHL from 1998-2001.
Former Memorial Cup champion Zack Kassian announces retirement:
Zack Kassian announced his retirement at the age of 32 on Thursday, putting an end to an NHL career that spanned 661 regular season games between Buffalo, Vancouver, Edmonton and Arizona from 2011-23. The 32-year-old got his start in the OHL, playing four seasons between Peterborough and Windsor from 2007-11, hoisting the Memorial Cup as a member of the 2010 Spitfires. A Windsor native, Kassian was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the 13th overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft. He won a silver medal with Canada’s National Junior Team in 2011.
