Team CHL defeated Team USA in back-to-back games, Tuesday in London and Wednesday in Oshawa, to win the inaugural CHL USA Prospects Challenge, presented by Kubota Canada. Ten OHL players competed for Team CHL. Details
Inaugural Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas set for January 15 in Brantford:
The OHL’s top NHL Draft eligible prospects will hit the ice on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 7:00pm at the Civic Centre in Brantford as the Eastern Conference battles the Western Conference in the all-new Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas. Details
Kelowna selected to host 2026 Memorial Cup:
The Canadian Hockey League is pleased to announce that the city of Kelowna, British Columbia, has been chosen to host the 106th edition of the Memorial Cup in the spring of 2026. Details
Spirit’s Joey Willis named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week:
Nashville Predators prospect Joey Willis of the Saginaw is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, registering four goals, three assists and seven points over two games played. Details
Rangers’ Jackson Parsons named OHL Goaltender of the Week:
Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers is the OHL Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season, going 1-2-0-0 with a 1.34 goals-against average, and a .963 save percentage. Details

Kingston Frontenacs goaltender Gavin Betts is the OHL Rookie of the Week, going 1-0-0-0 with a .967 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average. Details

Storm sign 2023 fifth round pick Lev Katzin:
The Guelph Storm announced the signing of fifth round 2023 OHL Priority Selection choice Lev Katzin of the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers on Friday. Katzin, who is committed to Penn State University, recorded six points (2-4–6) over nine games in Green Bay so far this season. Details
Colts sign second round pick Ben Bowen:
The Barrie Colts have signed 2024 second-round selection Ben Bowen to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Bowen was drafted 27th overall from the Vaughan Kings U16 program. He started the 2024-25 season with the Chilliwack Chiefs but did not play in a regular-season game for them. Details
Battalion sign free agent Nick Wellenreiter:
The North Bay Battalion has signed right winger Nick Wellenreiter, a free agent, to a scholarship and development agreement, the Ontario Hockey League club announced Thursday. Wellenreiter, who turned 18 on Feb. 17, has played this season with the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League, which withdrew from Hockey Canada effective June 1, 2023. Hockey Canada has approved Wellenreiter’s return to sanctioned play. Details
Spirit sign Michigan native Trevor Theuer:
The Saginaw Spirit have signed forward Trevor Theuer to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Theuer was selected by the team in the 10th round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection this past spring. Theuer spent the 2023-24 season as the captain of the Detroit Honeybaked 15U program. Details
Frontenacs sign 2023 pick Kieren Dervin:
The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club announced the signing of forward Kieren Dervin to an OHL Scholarship and Development agreement. The Frontenacs used their fifth round pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection to draft Kieren 86th overall. Originally drafted out of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 15U program, the 6’2”, 181 lbs. centre from Gloucester, ON has spent the 2024-25 season with St. Andrews College of the Prep Hockey Conference. Otters sign defenceman Michael D’Alessio:
The Erie Otters have signed defenceman Michael D’Alessio to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. D’Alessio is a 15-year-old defenseman who was selected by the Otters in this past Spring’s OHL Priority Selection in the fourth round, 72nd overall. This season, the Toronto native has been playing for the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Details
Wolves sign free agent Kimani Eccleston:
The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that forward Kimani Eccleston has committed to the club. Kimani Eccleston is a 6’3, 184lbs, left shot forward from Brampton, ON. Last season he played for the Brockville Braves of the CCHL notching 11 goals, 7 assists through 53 games. In December of last year Kimani committed to NCAA Union College. Details
Rangers sign 2023 selection Haeden Ellis:
The Kitchener Rangers announced the signing of Haeden Ellis to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Ellis spent last season in the OJHL playing for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. He also featured in three games for the United States National Development Program (NTDP), seven for the U17 NTDP, and one game for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL. Details
Otters sign 2023 pick Oliver Turner:
The Erie Otters have signed Oliver Turner to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. He was selected by the Otters in the fourth round, 77th overall in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. Since his selection, he has played for St. Andrews College in the Prep Hockey Conference as well as suiting up for their U18 AAA team. Details
Sting sign forward Liam Beamish:
The Sarnia Sting announced Friday the signing of Liam Beamish to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Beamish, 17, spent last season in the GOJHL playing for the Fort Erie Meteors. In 46 games he notched 27 goals and 29 assists for a combined total of 56 points. Liam was also named GOJHL (Golden Horseshoe) Rookie of the Year. Details
IceDogs acquire Arrowsmith from Knights:
The Niagara IceDogs added some young forward depth earlier this week, acquiring sophomore right-winger Blake Arrowsmith from the London Knights in a trade announced Tuesday. The Knights acquired a pair of third-round picks along with a 2025 sixth-round choice in the move. Details
Frontenacs’ Guindon commits to University of Vermont:
The first OHL player selected in the NHL Draft to commit to the NCAA, Kingston Frontenacs overage forward Cedrick Guindon has announced his commitment to the University of Vermont for the 2025-26 season. Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, the 20-year-old centreman from Rockland, Ont. announced his commitment to the University of Vermont Catamounts men’s hockey program via his personal Instagram account on Monday night. Spitfires’ Morneau commits to Bowling Green State University:
Overage Windsor Spitfires forward Noah Morneau has committed to Bowling Green State University men’s hockey program for the 2025-26 season. The Windsor, Ont. native announced his commitment to the Falcons men’s hockey program via the Windsor Spitfires PR department on Tuesday afternoon. Details

67’s running annual Toy Drive:
Once again in 2024, the Ottawa 67’s are working to make a difference in the community, running their annual Toy Drive at home games between November 29th, and December 8th, benefiting a local community house. The Toy Drive collection will be outside of Section 20, between Gate 2 and Gate 3. Fans are encouraged to bring toys suitable for children of all ages. They can be wrapped or unwrapped. Details

Attack Hunger Food Drive to be held on Saturday:
The Owen Sound Attack are set to host their Attack Hunger Food Drive on Saturday. This year’s event will see donations being collected on game night as well as at two main drop-off locations the Attack office downtown and Foodland on the west side. Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected at these locations beginning November 26 to December 4, although they can be made prior to and after these dates as well. Monetary donation can also be made to the Attack Hunger Campaign by visiting the Attack Shack online store and following the Attack Hunger link. Details
Petes announce details for annual Pink in the Rink campaign:
The Peterborough Petes have announced the details for the 16th Annual Pink in the Rink Campaign. This year’s game will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 against the Oshawa Generals at 7:05 pm. This season, funds raised from the Pink in the Rink campaign will support the Pedal for Hope tour, a part of Cops for Cancer at the Canadian Cancer Society. Details
Alumni Notes:
Binnington becomes all-time wins leader in St. Louis Blues history:
Owen Sound Attack graduate Jordan Binnington has more wins than any other goaltender in St. Louis Blues history. Binnington made 31 saves on Wednesday in a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils, setting a new franchise wins record of 152, eclipsing the previous mark held by Mike Liut that stood for more than 39 years. Since making his NHL debut in January 2019, Binnington has played 298 regular season games, posting a 152-103-32 record with a 2.81 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. He became the only rookie goaltender in NHL history to record all 16 of his teams’ playoff victories en route to a Stanley Cup championship, helping the Blues to their first title in franchise history in 2019. Binnington played in Owen Sound from 2009-13, backstopping the Attack to an OHL Championship in 2011. He was the OHL’s Goaltender of the Year in 2013.
Schmidt notches first professional goal:
OHL alumnus Roman Schmidt scored his first professional goal with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday night in a 7-1 win over the Belleville Bulls. Schmidt has appeared in 10 games with the Crunch this season, tallying two points (1-1-2). A six-foot-five, 215-pound blueliner, Schmidt was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third-round (96th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft before signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Lightning on Dec. 9, 2021. Schmidt played three seasons in the OHL between the Rangers and the Kingston Frontenacs, recording 93 points (23-70-93) in 179 regular season contests.
U SPORTS Report:
A total of 195 OHL alumni are playing in the U SPORTS men’s hockey ranks this season. Throughout the year the U SPORTS Report will keep tabs on former OHL names doing great things in the OUA, AUS and Canada West ranks on the road to the 2025 U SPORTS University Cup to be held from March 20-23 in Ottawa, Ont.
