Spirit’s Oke commits to Lake Superior State:
Spirit goaltender Andrew Oke announced on Monday his commitment to play hockey at Lake Superior State University following his OHL Career. He joins Calem Mangone as the second Spirit player to commit to the Lakers after this season. Details
Knights’ Van Gorp commits to University of Maine:
London Knights forward Evan Van Gorp has committed to the University of Maine Black Bears men’s hockey program for the 2027-28 season. The 18-year-old from Watford, Ont. has 35 points (16-19–35) through 54 games in his second OHL season.

Greentree, Protas each hit 100-point mark on same goal:
The Windsor Spitfires have two 100-point scorers in their lineup for the first time since 1994-95. Liam Greentree and Ilya Protas each hit triple digits on the same goal Thursday night in Peterborough as the Spits skated to a 7-1 win. The duo is the first set of Spitfires teammates to each reach 100 points since Bill Bowler and Dave Roche last did it 30 years ago.
Colts retire Clifford’s No. 13:
The Barrie Colts honoured a big part of their past success on Thursday night at Sadlon Arena, raising two-time Stanley Cup champion Kyle Clifford’s #13 to the rafters pre-game. Clifford played for the Colts from 2007-10 before embarking on a 753-game NHL career that continues today with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. The 34-year-old from Ayr, Ont. won Stanley Cups with Los Angeles in 2012 and 2014.

Petes’ Next Gen Game raises $17,056 in support of Five Counties Children’s Centre:
Five Counties Children’s Centre announced that a total of $17,056 was raised to support kids’ treatment services during the Petes annual Next Gen Game presented by Tim Hortons. The game took place on Monday, February 17. Details
Petes to host Indigenous Heritage Night on Thursday:
The Peterborough Petes will host their annual Indigenous Heritage Night on Thursday. This year, the Petes will once again be using the attached logo designed by Kory Parkin, an Indigenous Painter & Digital Creator from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ontario, Canada. The logo highlights the traditional name of Peterborough, Nogojiwanong, meaning “place at the foot of the rapids”.

Storm to host Indspire Game on Friday:
The Guelph Storm and Miijidaa Café + Bistro are proud to partner with Indspire for the first time this season. Indspire is a national Indigenous charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. The Storm will take the ice in commemorative jerseys designed by Eugene Morrisseau, a Canadian artist and son of the late Norval Morrisseau of the Indian Group of Seven. Details

Attack to host GMAN Cares game on Saturday:
The Owen Sound Attack are set to host their GMAN CARES game on Saturday. GMAN C.A.R.E.S. which stands for Geoffrey’s Model for the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa and other eating disorders, a local Community-based program focused on Awareness, Research, Education, and Support for patients and families affected by eating disorders. This grassroots program will focus on early identification and intervention of youth with disordered eating in Grey Bruce. Details

Scheifele becomes Winnipeg Jets’ franchise goal-scoring leader:
Mark Scheifele is the new franchise goal-scoring leader for the Winnipeg Jets, surpassing Ilya Kovalchuk with his 329th on Monday night – a goal that came in overtime. Scheifele lifted the Jets over the San Jose Sharks 2-1 with the milestone marker, helping the club secure its 10th straight win. The Jets’ first-ever draft pick back in 2011 has played in 857 career regular season games with the club, recording 330 goals, 453 assists and 783 points. The Kitchener, Ont. native played three seasons in Barrie from 2010-13, helping the Colts win an Eastern Conference title in his final campaign.
Ethan Del Mastro scores first NHL goal:
Sarnia Sting graduate Ethan Del Mastro buried the first goal of his NHL career on Thursday as the Chicago Blackhawks fell 7-5 to the Vegas Golden Knights. The 22-year-old blueliner scored in his ninth game of the season having spent most of the campaign with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs where he has recorded eight assists over 42 outings. Del Mastro played three OHL seasons between Mississauga and Sarnia from 2019-23 and was Chicago’s fourth round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
U SPORTS Report:
A total of 195 OHL alumni are playing in the U SPORTS men’s hockey ranks this season. Throughout the year the U SPORTS Report will keep tabs on former OHL names doing great things in the OUA, AUS and Canada West ranks on the road to the 2025 U SPORTS University Cup to be held from March 20-23 in Ottawa, Ont.
