Spits visit Frontenacs in tonight’s Friday Night Faceoff matchup
It’s a Friday night cross-Conference affair as the Windsor Spitfires visit the Kingston Frontenacs on this week’s Friday Night Faceoff. Windsor comes off a Thursday night win in Peterborough, leading the Western Conference with a record of 21-6-3-1. The Fronts recently snapped a lengthy losing slide with a win over the Oshawa Generals on Wednesday. Read more
Fifteen past and present OHL players named to Canada’s NJT Training Camp roster
The training camp roster features a total of 11 players currently competing in the OHL along with an additional four OHL alumni who are in the NHL or NCAA ranks. A total of five players from last year’s Canadian National Junior Team are included on the roster. Camp begins this weekend in Niagara Falls. Read more

Forty OHL players have been selected to compete in the 2026 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas that will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, beginning at 7:00pm. Read more

Rosters announced for OHL U16 Top Prospects Showcase in Peterborough
Eighty of the top U16 players from across Ontario will compete in the inaugural event on January 13-14, with the opportunity to showcase their talents in a unique setting alongside elite OHL Draft eligibles from across the province. Read more

Bulldogs spread Christmas cheer, make $10,000 donation to Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation: Some Brantford Bulldogs players spread the holiday cheer this past week with a Christmas-time visit to the pediatric unit at Brantford General Hospital, visiting patients and delivering gifts. Among the gifts delivered, Bulldogs players presented the Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation with a $10,000 donation. Read more
Sting name NHL Draft prospect Alessandro Di Iorio captain: Sophomore centreman Alessandro Di Iorio has been named captain of the Sarnia Sting, joining Beckham Edwards, Mitch Young, Ryan Brown and Hughston Hurt on the club’s leadership group. Read more
Kostov’s point streak at 14 games: Alex Kostov’s breakout season with the Flint Firebirds continues. The 19-year-old from Mississauga has points in 14 straight games dating back to November 2nd. He’s on the NHL scouting radar, being named to January’s Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas. Kostov’s Firebirds are at home to the Kitchener Rangers on Friday.
Second Chances on Centre Stage – Four players revive NHL Draft hopes at Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game: This year’s Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game will offer four players – Saginaw’s Egor Barabanov, Kingston’s Matt Minchak, Flint’s Alex Kostov and Saginaw’s Stepan Shurygin another shot at the NHL Draft spotlight. Greyhounds acquire Blues prospect Lukas Fischer: The Soo Greyhounds acquired St. Louis Blues prospect Lukas Fischer from the Sarnia Sting in a trade announced Monday. The Sting received blueliner Hunter Solomon along with five draft picks in exchange. Fischer made his Greyhounds debut on Wednesday. He has 18 points (3-15–18) over 27 games in his fourth OHL season. Bulldogs sign Heath Bogart: With several big names embarking on World Junior camps, the Brantford Bulldogs have signed defenceman Heath Bogart to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 17-year-old from Grand Bend, ON has 16 assists through 31 games with the OJHL’s Collingwood Blues this season. He was Brantford’s 10th round (196th overall) pick in 2024. Read more
Troops sign Lincoln Edwards: The North Bay Battalion have signed fifth round 2025 OHL Priority Selection choice Lincoln Edwards to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 16-year-old has 17 points (8-9–17) over 20 games with the OJHL’s Cobourg Cougars so far this season. Read more

Wolves host Teddy Bear Toss Friday, Undie Sunday to close-out weekend: The Sudbury Wolves host their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Friday when they play host to the Owen Sound Attack before their signature Undie Sunday tradition when the Brampton Steelheads visit the den. Help support a pair of great causes in Sudbury this weekend! Read more
Community Backpack Project Night in Guelph on Friday: Over the summer, the Guelph Storm partnered with Hope House to support their Community Backpack Project. Each year, Hope House Guelph coordinates a school supply drive to provide children with the tools they need for a successful school year. The Storm were pleased to collect nearly 400 backpacks in support of the initiative. Those who donated backpacks received a pre-paid ticket voucher to Friday’s game. Read more
Otters remember Jim Waters on Saturday: The Erie Otters host a Jim Waters Tribute Night on Saturday when they face the North Bay Battalion, honouring their late owner on the one-year anniversary of his passing. Waters, whose family still owns the Otters, bought the franchise in 2015, and hoisted the J. Ross Robertson Cup as an OHL champion in 2017. Read more
Firebirds salute referees, linesmen, collect toys for Toy Drive on Saturday: The Flint Firebirds will be wearing special referee and linesman theme jerseys for Saturday night’s contest against the Sarnia Sting. Stick around post-game for a game-worn jersey auction. Saturday also marks the Firebirds’ Old Newsboys Toy Drive Night, so fans are asked to bring a toy to the rink to help make a child’s holiday brighter.
Colts host Winter Wear Drive on Saturday: The Barrie Colts will be collecting brand new hats, mittens, gloves and socks on Saturday when they play host to the Niagara IceDogs. These will be used to assist families and individuals in the community who are experiencing — or at risk of experiencing — homelessness. Fans are encouraged to bring donations to the game, and they will be collected before puck drop.
Superhero Night on Saturday in Saginaw: The Saginaw Spirit prepare to host their annual Superhero Night benefitting Can Council that strives to stop child abuse and neglect. The Spirit will be wearing specially themed superhero uniforms when they take on the Kitchener Rangers, and those will be auctioned off for a good cause following the game.
Petes celebrate Roger’s birthday on Saturday: Saturday is Roger’s Birthday Bash at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Celebrate one of the OHL’s iconic mascots when the Petes take on the Brantford Bulldogs.

Stamkos pots four in Predators win: Steven Stamkos is 35 years-old, but he still has four-goal performances in him! The Nashville Predators forward scored four times in Thursday’s 7-2 win over the St. Louis Blues. Stamkos is in his 18th NHL season after originally entering the league as the first overall pick of the 2008 NHL Draft. The two-time Stanley Cup champion with Tampa Bay is in his second season in Nashville, and has 15 points (12-3–15) over 30 games. The Sarnia Sting graduate played in the OHL from 2006-08.
Hishon joins Suzuki on Canadiens’ mentors trip: The Montreal Canadiens were in Pittsburgh on Thursday night, and Habs captain Nick Suzuki remembered an old friend from Owen Sound. Suzuki brought fellow Attack legend Joey Hishon along for the trip that saw the Canadiens defeat the Penguins 4-2. Suzuki and Hishon were both stars for the Attack, with Hishon helping the Bears win their only OHL championship back in 2011. The Hockey News has more on the story
OHL grad Schmidt dealt to Flyers: The Philadelphia Flyers acquired former Kingston Frontenacs and Kitchener Rangers defenceman Roman Schmidt from the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier this week, with blueliner Ethan Samson going the other way. The 6-foot-5 Schmidt is in his second pro season following a three-year OHL career. The former OHL Cup champion with the Don Mills Flyers was Tampa Bay’s third round pick in 2021. He had five points (3-2–5) over 49 games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch last season, and one assist through 13 contests to begin 2025-26.
