OHL Talent Fuels Canada’s Offence at World Under-17 Hockey Challenge
Canada Red and Canada White combined for 17 goals as both opened their tournament with convincing wins on Monday at the 2025 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Canada Red 8, Finland 4
Canada Red began proceedings with an 8-4 win over Finland, led by Charlie Murata (Flint Firebirds), who posted four points (2G, 2A). Max Delisle (Owen Sound Attack) added a goal, while Peter Green (Brampton Steelheads) and Camryn Warren (North Bay Battalion) each chipped in with assists.
Canada White 9, Sweden 5
Two-time defending champions Canada White opened their campaign with a 9-5 victory over Sweden. Aleks Kulemin (Kingston Frontenacs), Jaakko Wycisk (Guelph Storm), and Brock Chitaroni (Ottawa 67’s) all found the back of the net. Assists came from Kaden Aucoin (Sarnia Sting) with two, along with Alex Forrest (Kitchener Rangers), Brenner Lammens (Sarnia Sting), Kaden McGregor (Peterborough Petes), and Matthew Henderson (Kingston Frontenacs).
Scott Barney, head coach of the Sudbury Wolves, is serving as head coach of Team Canada White.
The action continues on Monday night as Canada White takes on Czechia at 7:30 PM AST at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro, NS.
