OHL standouts top final edition of Craig Button’s TSN NHL Draft Rankings
With the 2025 NHL Draft fast approaching, TSN’s final player rankings from Director of Scouting Craig Button are in and OHL talent remains firmly in the spotlight. From major leaps in draft stock to consistent top-tier performances, several OHL skaters and goaltenders made their mark down the stretch.
The OHL continues to be well represented at the top of the board, with Erie Otters defenceman Matthew Schaefer maintaining his position at No. 1, backed by a strong season that was cut short due to injury (17 GP, 7G, 15A). Schaefer’s dynamic, two-way play continues to draw elite comparisons ahead of the draft.
Right behind him, Michael Misa (Saginaw Spirit) remains at No. 2, following a spectacular, record setting 134-point campaign (65 GP, 62G, 72A). Porter Martone (Brampton Steelheads) and Brady Martin (Soo Greyhounds) also held firm at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively, both coming off highly productive seasons in their draft year.
One of the most notable jumps came from between the pipes. Brampton Steelheads goaltender Jack Ivankovic climbed significantly in the final rankings, moving from No. 23 to No. 12. Ivankovic, who posted a .903 save percentage across 43 games, impressed scouts with his calm under pressure and ability to track pucks through traffic. He also backstopped Canada to gold at this years U18s, recording a .961 save percentage and 1.95 GAA and was named the tournament’s top goaltender.
Button can’t ignore the parallels he sees between Ivankovic and Calgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf, who was a Calder Trophy finalist last season as they are both smaller goaltenders at just 6-foot.
“I keep going back, and I watch, and I read my reports. Dustin Wolf got Vezina Trophy votes, and he’s been a top goaltender for five years before he got to the NHL, and by the way, Jack is another top goaltender,” said Button.
Henry Brzustewicz (London Knights) also saw a boost, moving from No. 55 to No. 47 after anchoring the blue line for the OHL and Memorial Cup champions. His performance and responsible defensive play likely helped elevate his status among NHL teams.
Kashawn Aitcheson (Barrie Colts) inched up from No. 16 to No. 15, swapping places with Malcolm Spence (Erie Otters), while Cameron Reid (Kitchener Rangers) moved slightly down the board but still remained within the top 20.
Many players held their ground in the final rankings, a sign of season-long consistency. Jake O’Brien (Brantford Bulldogs) remained at No. 11, coming off a 98-point season (66 GP, 32G, 66A). Jack Nesbitt (Windsor Spitfires), Ethan Czata (Niagara IceDogs), and Kristian Epperson (Saginaw Spirit) also saw minimal movement within the mid-to-late rounds of the top 80.
Simon Wang of the Oshawa Generals remained in the rankings at No. 77, while Quinn Beauchesne (Guelph Storm) and Luca Romano (Kitchener Rangers) also rounded out the final selections, continuing to draw interest for their well-rounded skillsets.
