OHL Power Rankings: Mar. 24, 2025
It’s playoff time! Here’s the final edition of the OHL Power Rankings for 2024-25.
Who’s up:
London Knights – up one spot to #1 this week
The Hamilton Spectator Trophy recipients enter the playoffs back where they started the season on the power rankings – right at the very top. London beat Kitchener and Windsor to kick-off the final week of the season before losing 6-4 in Erie with a largely inexperienced group on Sunday. The Knights continue their OHL title defence on Friday night at home to Owen Sound.
Brampton Steelheads – up one spot to #7 this week
The Trout ended the season on a six-game winning streak, defeating Brantford, Peterborough and Kingston last week. They enter the playoffs red hot, tasked with a challenge as they face the Oshawa Generals in the opening round.
Soo Greyhounds – up one spot to #12 this week
The Hounds ended the season playing some of their best hockey, winning their final five contests. Top scorer Marco Mignosa recorded his 200th career point to end the season as the Hounds beat the Sarnia Sting at home on Sunday. It’ll be Greyhounds and Windsor Spitfires in a first round series that begins on Thursday.
North Bay Battalion – up one spot to #14 this week
The Battalion won three of their last four to punch their playoff ticket on the final day of the season. Mike McIvor has been tremendous in goal while forward Lirim Amidovski came up clutch for the Troops in the final week of the season. The Battalion will have their hands full against the Brantford Bulldogs in Round 1.
Who’s down:
Kitchener Rangers – down one spot to #2 this week
The Blueshirts were 13th on the preseason edition of the Power Rankings, and enter the playoffs in second. They drop one spot after losing 2-1 to the London Knights on Tuesday. The Rangers have arguably the league’s top goaltender in Jackson Parsons carrying them into the playoffs where they’ll face the Flint Firebirds in a first round matchup.
Kingston Frontenacs – down one spot to #8 this week
The Fronts had their 16-game home winning streak snapped by the Brantford Bulldogs on Friday night. Kingston has some front line firepower in Jacob Battaglia, Tuomas Uronen and Cedrick Guindon, but the contributions of secondary options like Ethan Miedema, Matthew Soto and Gage Heyes may determine how far they go in the postseason. The Fronts face the Sudbury Wolves in Round 1, looking for their first OHL championship.
Sudbury Wolves – down one spot to #13 this week
The Wolves went 0-3 in the final week of the season. They’ve got the veterans to be a handful in a playoff series as they’ll go up against the Kingston Frontenacs in a series that begins on Friday in the Limestone City.
Flint Firebirds – down one spot to #15 this week
The Firebirds lost to Guelph and Sarnia before splitting decisions against Saginaw to close the schedule. A veteran-heavy squad has a number of players taking their last crack at an OHL title this spring. They’ll try and make the most of their opportunity as they face the Kitchener Rangers in the first round.
