OHL Power Rankings: Mar. 16, 2026
Who’s up:
Flint Firebirds – up one spot to #3 this week
The Firebirds are back up to third this week following five-goal outputs in wins over both Sault Ste. Marie and Saginaw. This year’s Flint team has set records including most wins (43) and points (93) in club history while captain Nathan Aspinall notched a record 58th assist in Saturday’s win. Goaltender Mason Vaccari needs one more victory to tie Luke Cavallin’s club mark of 36 in a single season. The Firebirds have the Windsor Spitfires hot on their heels entering the final week of the season as the two clubs battle it out for a West Division title.
Ottawa 67’s – up two spots to #4 this week
The 67’s vanquished three straight foes on the road, defeating Barrie, Brampton and Niagara, improving their record to 45-14-3-3 with a league-low 154 goals allowed. Ryder Fetterolf made franchise and league history with his sixth shutout of the season on Sunday, a new single season mark for a 67’s goaltender while also setting a new bar for the most by an OHL rookie. Overage veteran Cooper Foster is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week after netting Thursday’s OT winner in Barrie as part of a six-point week.
Peterborough Petes – up two spots to #7 this week
The Peterborough Petes lost to Oshawa for the second time in the span of a month, but won the big one, defeating the North Bay Battalion 3-2 on Brennan Faulkner’s OT winner on Saturday. The victory puts the Petes two points ahead of North Bay for home ice advantage in the first round playoff series between the two clubs. The Troops have given the Petes a handful this season, but Peterborough’s latest triumph puts them ahead of the Battalion on the power rankings for the first time in a month. Easton Rye’s 36th win on Sunday places him within two of Rick Laferriere’s 1980 franchise record of 38. He just surpassed the mark of 35 won by Kay Whitmore during the 1984-85 season.
Soo Greyhounds – up one spot to #9 this week
The Hounds dropped two-of-three, but gain a spot after defeating the Windsor Spitfires in overtime on Thursday night. They proceeded to lose to Flint and Brantford, being shutout by the Bulldogs 3-0 on Sunday despite outshooting them 40-21. The Greyhounds hold a slim one-point cushion on the London Knights for home ice advantage in their first round series entering a final week that features matchups with Saginaw back-to-back, and Windsor. Star blueliner Chase Reid hasn’t played since Feb. 1st, and would be a welcome addition to the lineup ahead of the postseason.
Kingston Frontenacs – up one spot to #10 this week
The Fronts are rolling, extending their current winning streak to five with road wins over Niagara, Erie and Brampton. Kingston’s recent surge has seen them leapfrog the Niagara IceDogs into sixth place in the Eastern Conference as forward Landon Wright stepped up with five points (2-3–5) over last week’s three wins while Matthew Frost has also heated up of late, lighting the lamp three times last week.
Saginaw Spirit – up one spot to #12 this week
The Spirit lost to Flint before defeating the Sarnia Sting 7-3 in a rough and tumble affair. Nikita Klepov’s push for 100 points continues as the first year standout sits at a league-leading 92 heading into Wednesday’s home date with the Soo Greyhounds. He’d need eight points over his final three games to hit the benchmark. Not to be overlooked, linemate Egor Barabanov sits tied for the OHL lead in assists with 60. Spirit captain Dimian Zhilkin is the league’s top scorer eligible for the 2027 NHL Draft, producing 74 points (36-38–74) over 56 games.
Owen Sound Attack – up one spot to #15 this week
The Bears finished the week with a 4-1 win over the Guelph Storm after falling to both Brampton and Kitchener. Owen Sound is tied with Guelph for sixth place in the Western Conference, with both teams sitting at 59 points. The Attack are at home to Flint, visit Guelph and host Kitchener to round out the season this week.
Oshawa Generals – up one spot to #16 this week
The Generals won’t be in the OHL Playoffs, but they’re back on the power rankings after collecting three of a possible six points last week. The Gennies beat the rival Peterborough Petes and grabbed a point against Central Division-leading Barrie in an overtime loss on Sunday. Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Owen Griffin carries an 11-game point streak into the final week of the season.
Who’s down:
Barrie Colts – down two spots to #5 this week
The Colts fall to fifth this week after a hard-fought 3-2 overtime loss to the Ottawa 67’s on Thursday. They rebounded to beat Sudbury and Oshawa on Saturday and Sunday. New York Islanders prospect Kashawn Aitcheson reached the 70-point benchmark on Sunday, setting a new Colts single season record for points by a defenceman, a record previously held by Luch Nasato from 1997-98. The Colts also gained another 30-goal scorer in Brad Gardiner, who joins Cole Beaudoin in that department. Head coach Dylan Smoskowitz earned his 45th win of the season on Sunday, the most by a first-year OHL head coach in the past 25 years.
Windsor Spitfires – down one spot to #6 this week
The Spits lost in overtime to Sault Ste. Marie before defeating both Sarnia and London. Sunday’s 8-2 win over London featured four assists from rookie Caden Harvey, who has turned it on of late in the absense of the injured Ethan Belchetz. Nathan Villeneuve was also sidelined last week after suffering an injury on Mar. 8th vs. Kitchener. The Spits trail first place Flint by one point in the West Division entering the final week of the season.
London Knights – down four spots to #11 this week
The Knights beat the Guelph Storm 4-3 before getting knocked around on Sunday in Windsor, losing 8-2. The Knights are one point back of fourth place Sault Ste. Marie for home ice advantage in their upcoming first round playoff series. The Knights visit Guelph on Wednesday, host Windsor on Friday and end the season on Saturday night in Flint.
Sudbury Wolves – down one spot to #13 this week
The Wolves defeated the Oshawa Generals 5-4 before losing to a couple tough opponents in Brantford and Barrie. Sudbury prepares to enter the playoffs as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Guelph Storm – down two spots and off the list this week
The Storm are back on the outside looking in as the rollercoaster ride continues with losses to divisional foes London, Owen Sound and Kitchener. Guelph hosts London and Owen Sound this week before ending the season on Saturday night in Erie.
