Here’s a look at some of the top storylines from a busy weekend across the league:
Flint Takes Over First Place
The Flint Firebirds surged to the top of the OHL standings after a perfect 3-0 week, highlighted by their sixth win of the season over the Saginaw Spirit. The six-point stretch pushed Flint past the Brantford Bulldogs, giving them 62 points and a 29-9-2-2 record. Rookie forward Charlie Murata earned OHL Rookie of the Week honours after posting three points (1-2–3) in three games, while overage netminder Mason Vaccari continues to lead the league with 23 wins.
Carter George Shines in Greyhounds Debut
Newly acquired goaltender Carter George made an immediate impact for the Soo Greyhounds, turning aside all 20 shots he faced in a shutout performance on Saturday night. The 5-0 victory marked his sixth career shutout and extended Sault Ste. Marie’s win streak to three games.
Sting Erupt for Nine Goals
The Sarnia Sting delivered one of the weekend’s most dominant outings, rolling to a 9-1 win over the Erie Otters on Friday. Sarnia scored nine unanswered goals and outshot Erie 47-20. Jack Van Volsen recorded his first OHL hat trick, Ben Pickell added three points (1-2–3), and Liam Bemish contributed three assists.
Colts Celebrate 2000th Franchise Game
The Barrie Colts marked their 2000th franchise game with a 6-3 victory over the Guelph Storm on Friday. Fresh off a bronze medal with Team Canada, Kashawn Aiteson (2G) and Cole Beaudoin (1-2–3) both posted multi-point efforts in their return. Beaudoin was named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week after collecting seven points (2-5–7) across three wins. Barrie remains atop the Central Division and is riding a six-game point streak.
Bulldogs Return to No. 1 in Power Rankings
After two weeks away from the top spot, the Brantford Bulldogs reclaimed first place in the OHL Power Rankings with victories over Niagara, London, and Windsor. Marek Vanacker continues to pace the league with 29 goals, while newcomer Charlie Paquette has made an early impact with four assists in his first three games.
Petes Continue Climb
The Peterborough Petes extended their point streak to six games as they push upward in the East Division standings. Kieron Walton impressed in his debut, registering 12 shots, a goal, and a shootout tally.
Costanzo Sets New Spitfires Record
Windsor Spitfires overage goaltender Joey Costanzo reached another milestone, appearing in his 158th regular-season game, the most by any goalie in franchise history.
Wooley Delivers in Rangers Debut
Defenceman Jared Wooley wasted no time making his mark with the Kitchener Rangers, scoring a shorthanded game-winner in his first appearance on Friday. The Rangers sit atop the Midwest Division with 54 points and have collected points in four straight games.
Ottawa Reaches 2000 Franchise Wins
The Ottawa 67’s rebounded from back-to-back regulation losses – their first since October 23 – by defeating the Sudbury Wolves 6-4 on Sunday night. The victory marked the 2000th win in franchise history.
Jovanovski Earns Goaltender of the Week
Guelph Storm netminder Zachary Jovanovski was named Mary Brown’s Chicken OHL Goaltender of the Week after posting a 1-0-0-1 record with a 1.44 goals-against average and .963 save percentage. He stopped 78 shots and helped Guelph secure three of four possible points.
