Today, we turn our attention to the OHL standouts shaping the future of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Porter Martone (RW) – Sarnia Sting (2022-23), Mississauga/Brampton Steelheads (2022-25)
Selected: 1st Round, 6th Overall (2025)

Age: 18
Brampton Steelheads captain Porter Martone heard his name called sixth overall this past weekend by the Philadelphia Flyers. The 6-foot-3 winger is a powerful playmaker with elite hands and high hockey IQ, leading the Steelheads with 98 points (37-61–98) in 57 games. A native of Peterborough, Ont., Martone represented Team Canada twice in 2025 at both the IIHF World Juniors and the World Championship.
Jack Nesbitt (C) – Windsor Spitfires (2023-25)
Selected: 1st Round, 12th Overall (2025)
OHL Career Stats: 123 GP, 34 G, 48 A, 82 PTS, -20
Age: 18
Chosen 12th overall by the Flyers, Jack Nesbitt is a towering 6-foot-4 centre who tallied 64 points (25-39–64) in his sophomore campaign. Named the OHL Western Conference’s Most Improved Player by league coaches, Nesbitt brings size, strong spatial awareness, and an upward development curve to the Flyers’ prospect pipeline.
Jett Luchanko (C) – Guelph Storm (2022-25)
Selected: 1st Round, 13th Overall (2024)
OHL Career Stats: 160 GP, 46 G, 98 A, 144 PTS, -21
Age: 18
Guelph Storm captain Jett Luchanko made his NHL debut with the Flyers at the start of the 2024–25 season, becoming the youngest player in franchise history to do so. After four games with the big club, he returned to Guelph, finishing second in team scoring with 56 points (21-35–56) in 46 games. Luchanko also represented Team Canada at the 2025 World Juniors and later made his AHL debut with Lehigh Valley Phantoms, notching nine assists over 16 regular and postseason games.
Denver Barkey (LW) – London Knights (2021-25)
Selected: 3rd Round, 95th Overall (2023)
OHL Career Stats: 228 GP, 89 G, 169 A, 258 PTS, +102
Age: 20
Captain of the Memorial Cup–winning London Knights, Denver Barkey returned from an early playoff injury to help lead his team to junior hockey’s most coveted prize. Barkey produced 82 points (25-57–82) in 50 regular-season games and added 20 points (9-11–20) in just 10 postseason contests. He earned OHL Humanitarian of the Year honours, a CHL First All-Star Team nod, and the Ed Chynoweth Award as the Memorial Cup’s top scorer with seven points (3-4–7).
Oliver Bonk (D) – London Knights (2021-25)
Selected: 1st Round, 22nd Overall (2023)
OHL Career Stats: 189 GP, 45 G, 105 A, 150 PTS, +87
Age: 20
Oliver Bonk played a pivotal role in London’s Memorial Cup run, logging heavy minutes on the back end while contributing offensively. The assistant captain posted 40 points (11-29–40) in 52 regular-season games and added 14 (2-12–14) over 17 playoff outings. A two-time World Junior representative for Team Canada, Bonk was named to the OHL’s Second All-Star Team in 2025.
Noah Powell (RW) – Oshawa Generals (2024-25)
Selected: 5th Round, 148th Overall (2024)
OHL Career Stats: 28 GP, 9 G, 13 A, 22 PTS, +8
Age: 20
Amid a recent NCAA rule change, Noah Powell transferred from the Ohio State Buckeyes to the Oshawa Generals midseason. He quickly made an impact, recording 22 points (9-13–22) in 28 games before adding 14 points (4-10–14) over 21 playoff contests, helping Oshawa reach the OHL Final for the second consecutive year.
Sawyer Boulton (RW) – London Knights (2023-24)
Signed (AHL): July 3, 2024
OHL Career Stats: 40 GP, 3 G, 2 A, 5 PTS, -14
Age: 21
Part of the 2024 OHL Champion London Knights, Sawyer Boulton has brought a physical presence to the AHL. Though limited in games played, he scored his first AHL goal on April 15 and racked up 51 penalty minutes in 18 appearances, embodying the Flyers’ old-school “Broad Street Bullies” mentality.
J.R. Avon (LW) – Peterborough Petes (2019-23)
Signed: September 22, 2021
OHL Career Stats: 179 GP, 62 G, 77 A, 139 PTS, +6
Age: 22
A key contributor during Peterborough’s 2023 Memorial Cup campaign, J.R. Avon is now in his second full AHL season with Lehigh Valley. He posted 17 points (7-10–17) in 60 regular-season games as he continues to round out his pro game.
