OHL Friday Night Faceoff: Sarnia at Erie
The OHL Friday Night Faceoff heads to the Erie Insurance Arena this week as the Erie Otters host the Sarnia Sting in a matchup between two teams sitting side by side in the OHL Power Rankings at 15 and 16. With both clubs pushing for position in the Western Conference playoff race, Friday’s meeting carries added weight. Fans can watch the game live and free on FloHockey’s YouTube, X, and Facebook channels, along with the OHL’s Facebook page and the pages of both participating teams. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm.
Sarnia arrives in Erie riding momentum after a perfect three-in-three weekend that included a pair of wins over Guelph and a road victory in Flint. The Sting offence is driven from the back end by two 2026 NHL Draft-eligible forwards. Beckham Edwards leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 24 points, while newly named captain Alessandro Di Iorio has added five goals and 10 points in 14 games, setting the tone both offensively and within a new leadership group.
Rookie forward Easton Walos has been one of the league’s pleasant surprises, posting nine goals and 21 points in his first OHL season. Walos spent his 16-year-old year with the BCHL’s Salmon Arm Silverbacks in 2024-25, recording 18 points in 48 games before making the jump to major junior this season.
Between the pipes, Patrick Quinlan has started the majority of games for the Sting. Quinlan brings international experience after suiting up for the U.S. National Under-18 Team last season, where he posted a 15-1-1-7 record in 26 appearances. He also represented Team USA at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, helping the Americans capture a bronze medal. His experience at events like the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge has translated into steady play during pressure moments. Under new head coach Mathieu Turcotte, the Sting continue to climb the Western Conference standings and sit just two points back of Erie for the final playoff spot.
The Otters enter the night looking to build consistency after dropping three of their last four games, though they are coming off an important Saturday win over North Bay. Erie’s offence is led by Dylan Edwards and midseason addition Michael Dec, who have combined for 28 goals and 76 points.
In goal, Noah Erliden has carried the workload for Erie, earning eight wins while posting a .904 save percentage. The Otters will be without forward Alex Misiak, who is away attending Slovakia’s National Junior Team Camp.
With both teams fighting for playoff position and separated by just two points in the standings, Friday night sets up as a meaningful Midwest Division clash to close out the week.
