SUZUKI RECORDS 100th NHL GOAL
Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki registered his 100th NHL goal on Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win against the Nashville Predators. A former first round (13th overall) pick of the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Draft, the London, Ont. native has registered 100 goals, 170 assists, and 270 points over 353 games played over five seasons with the Canadiens. Selected in the first round (14th overall) by the Owen Sound Attack in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, Suzuki played four seasons in the OHL spent between the Attack and the Guelph Storm, recording 328 points (141-187-328) over 251 regular season contests. Winning an OHL Championship with the Storm in 2019, Suzuki was named a three-time OHL Most Sportsman-Like Player, CHL Sportsman of the Year, CHL Memorial Cup Most Sportsmanlike Player and OHL Playoff MVP.

EKBLAD BECOMES PANTHERS’ ALL-TIME ASSISTS LEADER AMONG DEFENCEMAN
Florida Panthers blueliner Aaron Ekblad registered his 230th NHL assist on Tuesday in a 5-3 win over the New Jersey Devils, becoming the Panthers’ franchise leader in assists by a defenceman. A former first overall pick of the Panthers in the 2014 NHL Draft, the Windsor, Ont. native has registered 115 goals, 230 assists, and 345 points over 10 seasons. One of six OHL players to ever be granted exceptional status as a 15-year-old entering the League, Ekblad was selected first overall by the Barrie Colts in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. Ekblad played three seasons in the OHL, recording 116 points (40-76-116) over 175 regular season contests. A highly-decorated player, Ekblad has earned OHL Rookie of the Year, OHL Most Outstanding Defenceman, and NHL Rookie of the Year honours throughout his career.

FOUDY SCORES FIRST NHL GOAL
Windsor Spitfires graduate Jean-Luc Foudy scored his first career NHL goal on Wednesday, helping the Colorado Avalanche defeat the Detroit Red Wings 7-2. The 21-year-old from Scarborough lit the lamp in his first game of the season with the Avs, having recorded six points (2-4–6) through an injury-shortened 12 game season with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles thus far. Colorado’s third round pick in 2020, Foudy appeared in nine games with the Avalanche in 2022-23 while recording 36 points (11-25–36) in 46 AHL games. He played two seasons with the Spitfires from 2018-20, recording 23 goals, 69 assists and 92 points over 122 regular season games.

SCHEIFELE RECORDS 700th NHL POINT
Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele recorded his 700th NHL point on Tuesday, tallying an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken. A former seventh overall pick of the Jets in the 2011 NHL Draft, the Kitchener, Ont. native has registered 290 goals, 410 assists, and 700 points over 13 seasons. Selected in the seventh round (134th overall) by the Saginaw Spirit in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection, Scheifele played three seasons in the OHL with the Barrie Colts, recording 217 points (84-133-217) over 158 regular season contests.

MOVERARE REGISTERS FIRST NHL GOAL
Mississauga Steelheads alumnus Jacob Moverare scored his first career NHL goal on Thursday night, helping the Los Angelos defeat the Ottawa Senators in a 4-3 overtime win. The 25-year-old from Ostersund, Sweden. has appeared in 32 games with the Kings over three seasons, registering a goal and two assists. Selected in the fourth round (121st overall) by the Kings in the 2016 NHL Draft, Moverare has tallied 18 points (2-16-18) over 34 games played with the AHL’s Ontario Reign this season. The 6-foot-3, 210lb. blueliner played two seasons with the Steelheads from 2016-18, recording five goals, 48 assists and 53 points over 95 regular season games.

JOHNSTON RECORDS FIRST NHL HAT TRICK
Dallas Stars forward Wyatt Johnston continues to build on his impressive campaign, registering a five-point night with a pair of assists on top of his first NHL hat trick to help the Stars defeat the San Jose Sharks 7-6 in overtime on Wednesday. A former first round (23rd overall) pick by the Stars in the 2021 NHL Draft, Johnston has put up 48 points (22-26-48) in 64 games played this season. Selected sixth overall by the Spitfires in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Johnston spent two seasons in Windsor, registering 58 goals, 96 assists, and 154 over 121 regular season contests. Helping lead the Spitfires to the OHL Championship Series in 2022, the hometown product tallied 41 points (14-27-41) over 25 playoff contests to earn the OHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player Award, the OHL’s Most Points Award, the prestigious Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player, and the CHL’s Top Scorer Award that season.
