NHL Debut: Donovan Sebrango (Jan. 16, 2025)
Donovan Sebrango‘s NHL dream came true on Thursday night, and he got to do it in his hometown with his hometown NHL team.
The 23-year-old Ottawa product suited up for the Senators in their 1-0 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals at the Canadian Tire Centre, seeing 11:38 on the ice.
The 6-foot-2, 221Ib. Kitchener Rangers graduate is in his fifth pro season after patrolling the blueline with the Blueshirts from 2018-20. He produced 13 goals, 43 assists and 56 points over his two seasons while developing a reputation as a physical presence and dependable shutdown option. The Detroit Red Wings selected Sebrango in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. He joined the Senators as part of the Alex DeBrincat trade to Detroit in July 2023.
In 28 games with the AHL’s Belleville Senators this season, Sebrango has registered 13 points (3-10–13).
