Misa sets new Steelheads single season assists record
Draft eligible forward Luke Misa made Mississauga Steelheads history on Sunday, recording two assists to give him 53 on the campaign and set a new single season club mark.
Misa’s 53 helpers are one more than Riley Brace‘s 52 set back in 2012-13, the first year after the Steelheads shifted their identity over from the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors. Misa is currently tied for third in OHL assists, leading the Steelheads with a total of 76 points (23-53–76) through 57 games.
An 18-year-old from Oakville, Ont., Misa helped the Steelheads clinch a spot in the OHL Playoffs with their 4-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday. He was selected by the Trout with the ninth overall pick of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, and currently has 145 points (40-105–145) over 183 regular season games with the franchise. He competed in the 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Moncton, NB in January, and was rated 45th among North American skaters on NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings.
Justin Donati‘s 63 assists for the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors in 2005-06 remain the franchise’s all-time single season record. Misa continues to chase that mark on Friday when the Steelheads play host to the Ottawa 67’s.
