Milestone Moments: Nov. 5/17
A pair of OHL newcomers accomplished career milestones on Sunday as Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Nick Donofrio and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds forward Brett Jacklin scored his first goal. Both players helped lead their respective clubs to victory. Here’s a closer look.
NICK DONOFRIO (HAMILTON BULLDOGS):
Nick Donofrio stopped all 23 shots he faced to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 2-0 blanking of the visiting Windsor Spitfires. Donofrio and the Bulldogs halted Windsor’s winning streak at four games as the 17-year-old from Ypsilanti, Mich. remained undefeated in regulation on his OHL career. Donofrio was Hamilton’s fifth round pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection and spent last season playing for the Philadelphia Revolution Jr. A club.
BRETT JACKLIN (SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS):
Brett Jacklin opened the scoring with 4:42 remaining in the opening period to help the Soo Greyhounds take a 3-1 win over visiting North Bay on Sunday. Tim Gettinger and Morgan Frost gathered assists on the first of Jacklin’s OHL career as the 17-year-old from Sudbury, Ont. scored in his 13th game. Sault Ste. Marie’s 10th round pick in 2016, Jacklin spent last season with the Elliot Lake Wildcats Jr. A club.
