NOLAN DEGURSE (SARNIA STING):
Sarnia Sting rookie Nolan DeGurse scored his first OHL goal on Sunday, helping the Sting defeat the visiting Flint Firebirds 6-3 in their regular season finale. The 17-year-old from Bright’s Grove, Ont. found the back of the net 7:30 into the third period, striking in his 10th game of the season. Sarnia’s 13th round pick in 2017, DeGurse has two points (1-1–2) this season after starting the year with the Sarnia Legionnaires Jr. B club, registering 40 points (21-19–40) over 46 games.
DREW WAWROW (SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS):
Soo Greyhounds rookie defenceman Drew Wawrow scored the first goal of his OHL career on Sunday as part of a 5-2 win over the visiting Saginaw Spirit. Wawrow connected with Zack Trott and Cole MacKay midway through the second period to find the back of the net in his 21st game of the season. The 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont. has split the season between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, recording three points (1-2–3) along the way. Wawrow was Sudbury’s seventh round pick in 2017 from the Brampton 45’s Minor Midgets.
